"Hey there! I'm Lori. I'm 17 years old and go to Green Rose High School. Weird name for a High School, I know. I'm closeted non-binary, well I do go by they/she, but that aside, I love doodling and listening to music! I consider myself a quiet person since I am just about a nobody in school. The only people who know me are bullies. The only person who's close to me is my adopted little bro, Noah. My mom is pretty strict. She says she's just looking out for me... but I don't kno-"

"MAY! GET UP YOU YOU NEED TO GET TO SCHOOL!" I hear my mum yell from the other room before I can finish writing in my journal. I always sigh at hearing my dead name, nothing against the name though. It's just not for me.

"I'm coming, ma!" I quickly yell, getting my backpack and putting it on. I opened the door of my bedroom and headed to the kitchen, where my mum was.

My mum turned to look at me, "Hi sweetie- oh. I see you're still not dressing like a proper woman." She said, sighing. I rolled my eyes. I've gotten this talk so many times.

"Hey, hey. Don't roll your eyes at me. I'm just worried that no boys are going to want to date you, hun." She said, looking sympathetic. Little does she know, I'm lesbian. I want to barf every time she says something about me having a boyfriend.

"Mhm. I need to head to school." I replied, heading to the door.

"Wait! You need to eat, May." She said before I could walk out.

"I'll make sure th- she eats, Mum." I hear my little brother say. I am very grateful I didn't have to deal with my mum alone...

My mum then looks toward my brother, "Alright. Just make sure she eats, Sophia." She said, dead naming even more! I know we're both in the closet, since he's trans, but surely she can tell something about at least Noah is different. Just shows how much she pays attention to us.

Noah nodded, walking towards the front door and I followed. He opened the door, and walked outside with me following behind.

"Thanks for in there, Noah," I say, walking along the sidewalk with him.

"No prob, Lor. You do need to eat though.." He said, grabbing a granola bar in his pocket.

I looked at it, then grabbed it. "It's all I had today, as well," He said, shrugging. I chuckled, opening the granola bar wrapper and slowly eating it.

-_=+At School+=_-

Once we arrived at school, we split up, since Noah is a year younger. I walked towards my locker, opened it, and grabbed my books. I walked to my history class since it was the first one I had. I sat down at my desk, listening to the teacher talk. I felt tired though, so I let myself rest my eyes.

Soon enough, I heard the bell ring. The teacher had asked me to stay in the class for a moment.

"I've noticed how your grades have been... declining. Is something going on at home, maybe?" The teacher asked. I so badly wanted to vent to someone, but a teacher? Not my taste, personally.

"I'm fine, just... been staying up like trying to do homework! Guess I get tired and end up rushing it." I say, lying through my teeth but who cares.

"I see. I recommend not doing that.." The teacher said, then motioned for me to leave. I headed out of the classroom, sighing.

-_=+After School, at home+=_-

Noah and I had gotten home about half an hour ago. My mum had asked me to take out the trash. I had grabbed it, and now was heading to the alley where we throw out the trash. I walked into the alley and headed towards the trash bin but noticed something in it... is that... A PERSON?!

Please tell me about how I could maybe improve my writing skills, or if they're fine how they are! I haven't written a lot of stories so this is still fairly new to me!
