Kierra Sheard-Atkins's POV
——————"She was such an adorable little girl. She had went through her little tomboy phase and everything," Daddy laughed as him and Jordan went through old pictures of me. I sat at the desk, eating my food, not saying anything. "Oh, look. Here's a video of her gospel rapping. She could've sworn she was Lil' Kim,"
"Dad, don't show him that one,"
"Why not? You were so little and cute," He says, passing Jordan the phone. I put my head in my hands as I listened to my younger self rap.
The both of them were engaged into that and I lifted my head a bit to look at my wife. She was separated from all of us, seated on the couch that was closest to the door. She hadn't cracked her mouth open since we came back in from the sanctuary. She was just over there, eating her food and doing whatever she was doing on her phone. We tried to include her, but she declined and put her AirPods in. She had to, really, be upset to turn down conversation. She loves to converse and have a good time. I kept my eyes on her until I knew she felt my gaze. She looked up from her phone, looking into my eyes. Rolling her eyes, she put her focus back onto what she was doing and crossed her legs.
I sighed and sat my burger and fries down. I didn't have an appetite, anymore. "Daddy, can Erica and I finish this, tomorrow? I don't feel too good," I say and Jordan started to come over to my aid, but I waved him off. He caused enough trouble.
"What's wrong?"
"I just feel a little worn down," I say, getting up from the chair, grabbing my jacket, throwing it on. Lord, forgive me for lying in the church. "I think I'm coming down with something,"
"Aw, okay. Go ahead home. Jordan and I will finish this. I'll call you, tonight, to check up on you,"
"Okay. I love you," I went over to him, giving him a hug.
He hugged me back, kissing my forehead. "I love you, too, babygirl. Erica, make sure to take care of my babygirl," He says, aloud, but again, she couldn't hear him.
I went over to her and took her AirPods out of her ear. Before she could curse me out, I motioned behind me and she took the hint. "Sir?"
"I said to take care of my babygirl. She said she isn't feeling well," He said and she looked at me. She knew I wasn't telling the truth.
Pursing her lips, she nodded her head. "I will. Are we finishing, tomorrow?" She asks, getting up.
"No, Jordan and I will finish up. You two ladies enjoy the rest of y'all's afternoon," He said and Erica turned her lip up at the mention of his name.
"You, too.." She portrayed a fake smile before looking at me. It slowly went away. "Let's go,"
I didn't waste another second getting up out of there. The tension was starting to become suffocating. Luckily, my father isn't too good at reading rooms. That would've been a lot worse. Walking into the kitchen, I threw my trash away and walked out of the church, heading towards the car. Looking over my shoulder, a bit, Erica wasn't too far behind me, but she wasn't looking at my ass like she usually would. She's most definitely not playing about her being upset.
Walking around the car, I went over to the passengers side, waiting. She took her time walking up to the car, but looked so sexy doing it. A small part of me loved when she was upset, at me, because her dominant side was in a more aggressive mode. The other part of me hated it, because she gets mute and very stubborn. When she finally decided to unlock the door, we got in and she tossed her phone in the cup holder, starting up the car. I kept a close eye on her, the entire time. We pulled out of the parking lot, in silence. I reached up to, at least, turn the radio on, but she pushed my hand out of the way. I sighed and turned my body to face the window. This was going to be a very long day.
