After Rain closes the door, he leans on it with his forehead pressed against the wood and his chest pounding like a drum. Oh my god! He kissed Phayu—again! Phayu's gonna think he's a pervert at this point, always stealing kisses.
Rain groans, feeling embarrassed to the next century. But if he thought it can't get any worse, his mom calls his name then and he whips around with a shriek, a hand grabbing his chest.
"M-ma." He says after collecting himself- ish. "How...how long have you been there?"
"Rain..." His mother eyes him pointedly then asks, "Are you dating Phayu?"
Oh, no. She saw! Rain's eyes widen the size of saucers and he opens and closes his mouth like a damn fish without being able to utter a single word.
But then, she pipes up and tells him, "Rain, I won't be upset if you are."
"Y-you won't?" Rain asks, confused. Rain never really hid it deliberately but he's never formally come out to his mom either. Also, he always thought she would be okay with someone like Phayu as a senior in school but as a boyfriend? Now, that's news to Rain.
His mom puts her hands on his shoulders and leads him to the living room where they both take a seat on the chaise lounge, facing each other. She then cups her son's hand in between hers and says to him, "Son, I don't mind if you like girls or boys, as long as you're with someone who takes care of you and is a good person."
Rain doesn't know about the good person part but Phayu does take care of him, surprisingly. Then he inwardly shakes his head, thinking, "Why does it matter? We won't be dating for long."
"I just wish you at least told me." His mom's voice snaps him out of his thoughts. "I think I know now why you were so hesitant to let him sleep over. You two didn't...do anything, did you?"
Rain chokes on his own saliva and starts coughing after which he lies through his teeth, "O-of course, not! Ma, what are you even thinking about?"
But in his mind, he recalls how Phayu pushed him onto his mattress and almost ate him as though he were a second serving of dinner.
"Okay, that's good." His mom thankfully gives it a rest. But not before offering her two cents about their relationship. "Rain, I know you're a good boy. But sometimes, you can also be quite bratty and reckless. I hope that by dating someone older than you, you can grow and become more mature. Also, Phayu seems like a nice young man. Treat him well too; a relationship is a two-way street. Okay, son?"
"O-okay." Rain mumbles to which his mom smiles contently and gets up, saying, "I'll go make us some snacks."
As he watches her leave, Rain feels that all too familiar guilt creeping up on him. Now, he's lying to Phayu and his mom. He never meant for things to get this complicated and Phayu wasn't meant to receive that letter in the first place but why does he feel like the bad guy?

"What?!" Sky and Som chorus. "Rain, I told you to be careful." The former adds as the three of them huddle around a table in their classroom the next morning.
"How did she even find out?" Som asks and by the way Rain's face pales and he chews on his lower lip, Sky already has his suspicion but he doesn't interrupt.
"That's not important." Rain retorts, burying his face in his hands and groaning, "What am I gonna do? The worst part is...I think my mom likes P'Phayu for me."
"Eh???" The two pipe up at the same time again.
"This is why I told you not to let her find out." Sky chides, adding salt to the would. He can't help it; Rain's mom doting on Phayu is the last thing they needed.
