"How do you know this place, Ava?" I asked.
"I was born here, and I come to visit part of my family once in a while, I wonder if-"
"Better see if it's safe" I interrupted her, knowing what she had to say.
Ava understood why I interrupted her it was something sad to hear, "I wonder if my family is here". Or it's probably just me thinking dumb stuff.
I noticed that the soldier grunted and looked at her for a moment, like being sorry. He then sighed and looked another way.
"There's no one outside" he started, "it looks like if it is abandoned."
And that could mean two things; it was either infested with zombies who killed everyone and were hiding, or ... There's not an or, because it's so dumb to say 'people are probably sleeping', but still I wasn't really sure if we were safe.
"Are you sure we are alone in here?" Savannah asked.
"Okay, we've come here cause this is a place where they can just attack and then go away" the soldier replied.
"How come?" Sidney asked.
"Well, if you can see, this isn't like a very rich place, and people in here are quite clever. They would know what to do in situations like this, I daresay." he said, really cocky.
"So, you practically are saying that nobody is in here, we are alone? Because the other people just ran away, because what could you do with zombies around?" whinned Connor.
"Listen kid, this is the safest place I could possibly imagine off, you should be grateful." he pointed out.
"I'm not sure town people are actually prepared for stuff like this, no one is actually prepared for stuff like this, no one is even prepared for a zombie attack" Matthew pointed out.
"Wow, chill man! My family is from here, I am from here as well, and your words hurt" Ava said.
"Sorry, I just-" Matthew cut himself, he was probably avoiding a fight.
Ava sighed, Matthew followed her with a sigh as well.
"And what are we supposed to do here?" Connor said.
"Kid. You better be careful." the soldier replied.
"What?" Connor said.
"You're getting on my nerves."
"Calm down" I said.
Sidney and Audrey were sleeping, Sidney was using Matthew's shoulder as a pillow, so was Audrey in Sidney's shoulder. The tank was there, not moving just, still. I just wanted to get the hell out of there. I stared at Ava, who seemed excited.
"Are you okay?" I asked her.
"No. I have to... I need... Argh! My family! I have to see them." she stood up.
"Wait... what?" I startled.
"Ash! I need to go." she said as she tried to open the exit door.
She opened it, I stood up but the soldier stood after me and pulled me down, back to my sit. "Don't get out" he warned me.
For a second I looked at his eyes, they were brown, a very dark, nice brown. I wonder if he looked at my eyes or it was just me. He seemed serious, but at the same time protective, he gave a feeling of safeness.
"Did you understand me?" The soldier woke me up, from a rather daydream.
'What? Yes I...I did" He got out of the tank following Ava.
