As Skye Blue stepped out of her house she couldn't help the long breath in she took of the cold night air. It had been a long week of wrestling and all she had looked forwards to was the run around her block to clear her head. She placed her headphones in her ear turning on her usual running playlist before she carefully stretched.

As she took off down the sidewalk she could feel all the stress of everything get left behind. Slowly she got lost in her music. There was nothing guiding her as she ran the streets knowing that eventually she would make it home.

Skye ran past the playground making a left down the pathway that took her behind a set of baseball fields. As she did her eyes landed on a person and their dog running in front of her. Her run was a mere jog compared to their sprint. As the dog abruptly stopped she could see the person that had been running just about do a cartwheel before landing on the ground.

"Oh you fucking prick." Skye had to bite back her laughter at the words. "You know you asshole this is why I don't run with dogs." Instead of sticking around to make it known she had seen everything Skye continued running. As she ran past the man who was now brushing himself off she couldn't help but notice the scattered tattoos along his arms. He stood and for a brief moment their eyes met. She kept running knowing she had been caught.

"Navy what did you do you idiot?" The familiar voice came out of nowhere causing Skye to trip over her own feet and fall to the ground. "Oh my god are you.... Skye!?" She looked up and her eyes landed on Anna Jay. Skye almost immediately turned bright red.

"H-Hi Anna." Skye stuttered out as Anna helped her up.

"You alright?" A nod came from the younger woman before Anna felt a leash get shoved into her hand. "Really?" The mysterious man laughed before he nodded and took back off on his run.

"Told you I don't run with dogs, Anna." He hollered back. Skye could see Anna simply shake her head as she laughed.

"You're a fucking asshole." All they could hear was a laugh as he got further away. "Well I'll have to properly introduce y'all later but Skye that's Ryder. He's one of my oldest friends. He's usually more talkative but he's training right now."

"Training for what?" Skye questioned as she noticed he wasn't even in eyesight anymore.

"He a runner." Anna said with a laugh.

"So what's he training to run in?" Skye questioned curiously as the two began to walk down the pathway together. For once she actually didn't mind a conversation interrupting her walk. She always loved to chat with Anna.

"He runs marathons I think he said something about the Boston marathon but also does it to unwind from firefighting. Really should've gone for the Olympics but opted to run into fires instead." Skye looked over at Anna shocked. "Yeah you wouldn't expect it from him but his endurance is next level. He'll probably pass up two or three times before he gets to a pace where we can keep up. He's already lapped me once."

"That's fucking insane." Anna couldn't help her laugh.

"Tell me about it. He's been like it since he was a kid though. It's like he never stops running." They could hear a chuckle before Ryder ran past them.

"Maybe y'all should run instead of walk." He commented before Anna let Navy go who immediately went running after him. "Oh you ass." They could both see him grab Navy's leash before he took off running once again.

"I love pissing him off while he's running." Anna said with a laugh. "Probably shouldn't because I know it messes with his times but I don't care. He can yell at me later but it goes in one ear and out the other." Skye couldn't help her laugh at Anna's words.

"You two that close?" Anna nodded.

"I've known him since I was two. We've pretty much been inseparable until I signed. But that was also when he got the crazy idea to start running into fires so I guess we both found what we love at the same time." She could see Skye looking over at her. "No we've never dated and never will. That would be like kissing my younger brother. No fucking way." The darker haired woman couldn't help her laugh. "Plus Jack is my person. He's just that idiot little brother that needed a place to stay while he found a house."

"Which I did." Anna caught Ryder's arm stopping him from running past them.

"When the fuck did you do that?" He laughed.

"Last week. Bought the house on the corner. The place was too nice to pass up." Anna couldn't help her happy squeal as she smashed him into a hug. "You're killing me." She hit him as she pulled away.

"You're always so fucking dramatic Rye." Laughter escaped his lips as his head shook.

"Am not. You just know how I am about hugs." Anna rolled her eyes at him.

"Twenty years and you'd think you'd get over that shit by now." He scoffed.

"Twenty years and you think you'd get the hint that I hate hugs." She shoved him before he laughed and just as he was about to start back on his run they both heard him groan as he pulled out his phone. His eyes scanned the text before he handed Anna, Navy's leash.

"Call?" He nodded. "Be safe."

"Always am." He commented before he turned and took off back towards Anna's house.

"Text me when you're on your way back." He gave her a thumbs up before he disappeared around the corner. "God I fucking hate when he gets calls like this." Skye gave her a questioning look. "He's on call all the time with the fire department but they only message him on his days off when it's something bad. Usually a massive fire or rescue situation. Always scares the life out of me because I know it's not a normal call that he's going to."

"I'm sure he'll be alright." Anna nodded.

"He will." Skye gave her a reassuring smile. "Wanna run? I swear I barely see you walking when you're out here."

"I would love a run. Mind if I put some music on?" Anna laughed as she shook her head before responding.

"Please do. Will make this more fun."
