Lightning flashed across the window, the crack of thunder that the bolt of energy produced waking Zavant from his alcoholic slumber. Instantly, he checked the case by his side to find that the artificial Chrysalis was still there. He felt very alone, in that moment, high above the earth, with nobody to talk to, nobody to listen. The raging storm came further into view, alerting Zavant of the near arrival of the plane,
"Time to give this bastard a hard time," Adam slurred, twisting the lid onto the bottle that sat in front of him on the tray table,
He did not notice the orb of purple light, reflected by The Stranger's powerful arms, speeding towards his jet. It was not long until Zavant spun towards the hard earth, his plane fried by the energy. Even as he plummeted towards certain death, Noctum Prime took a last swig from his bottle.
Niamh and Shaine's plan was not going well. Initially, enchanting Shaine's kunai with an aura that could hurt Apis was working well, but with the constant vacuum waves, they were not able to draw blood from The Stranger,
"It's almost as if he was built to counter our plans," Shaine muttered, swinging the chain so that it shot towards the bull-man, who dodged it effortlessly, pouncing for the superhuman,
"We're gonna have to think of something else soon," Niamh replied, whisking Shaine out of the way without a moment to spare, "a miracle would be greatly appreciated,"
Fortunately, a miracle appeared before them. Slamming into Apis as he hung mid-air, a private jet ploughed The Stranger into the earth, a solitary figure falling from one of the broken windows. The two rushed over, the overwhelming smell of whiskey accompanying the sound of Apis rising, uninjured, from the rubble,
"Zavant?" Niamh asked curiously, shaking the unconscious figure,
"Is he dead?" Shaine asked, prodding his shoulder,
An agonising moan confirmed that Zavant was, indeed, alive. Just as Niamh rolled him into the crack in the floor, Apis fired a ball of icy red at them, barely avoiding killing the drunk warrior,
"I thought I sensed something powerful in this machine," Apis stated, "and yet it was just another disappointing human,"
"Don't underestimate human spirit!" Spirit yelled, the earth vibrating with her power, "we are going to destroy you,"
Apis drew back for a vacuum wave, but his arm was caught, something holding it there,
"How did you return?" Apis asked, the slightest hint of fear in his voice as he turned,
Even he was shocked when he saw that it was not Noctum that had restrained him, but Simon, the Insomniac attacking with only the upper half of his body,
"I... kill... you," the monster spat, blood dribbling from its eyes, nose, and mouth,
Apis could not force his arm forward. The grip strength of Insomniac was too strong for that, so he blasted Simon with his other hand, giving Spirit enough time to strike,
"Take this!" She shouted, spinning wheels of earth barraging Apis, who raised his arms to shield himself from the assault,
"This can not hurt me," he boasted, "nothing you have can hurt me,"
Black blood spurted from The Stranger's back as the kunai arced away from its target, dripping with the lifeblood of a God. Apis roared, not with agony, but with frustration,
"You can not win. Just die already!" He roared, landing a punch directly to Shaine's abdomen, nearly tearing her in half,
"Damn you!" She yelled before falling to the ground, guts spilling onto the dirt,
