Asher's POV
Olivia has been extremely quiet after our conversation in the study room. She had been quiet on our way to the airport, then in the flight and even after we made the landing. She hasn't spoken a word and it's bothering me.
I don't like her this quiet.
Forget it, I hate her silence. It's like she is thinking something bad and that thought makes me anxious. I haven't left her alone yet. Not that I will, seeing how zombie-like behavior she is putting.
She is obviously thinking something, or as history says, a plan is forming in her head.
I don't know if it is to stop the auction or catch Benedict. Whatever it is, has me on my toes. Currently, we're taking a lounge in a hotel. It's not far from the auction but still not too close. Just enough distance for us to operate without attracting attention.
My men are already on their move to search the abandoned warehouse as I am speaking but even that isn't concerning right now as Mi Zorro is.
I intertwine our hands together and pull her to my side. She doesn't say anything except for a look of acknowledgment to me before squeezing my palm.
"You okay?" I say leaning in,
"What?" she looks at me. For once, I can't read what she's thinking. Her eyes are blocked. No emotions, nothing.
"Are you okay?"
She smiles but it's one of those empty ones. Just pulled muscles. Something is wrong. "Yeah, I am fine. Don't worry about it,"
"Olivia, you know you can tell me anything, right? If you're worried about the auction then just say. We can meet the lawyer today instead of tomorrow."
Right. We contacted David Myer's family lawyer, Denny who was originally appointed to deal with the will.
Last night, Klaus contributed to us with that piece of information that instantly turned out to be our only way to stop this auction from happening. He said Benedict had blackmailed him into leaving the country when he got to know his legal power for the transfer of will properties.
But now, that we know, he is being fled into the country by my men with all sorts of protection. We need to introduce Olivia to Denny so he can acknowledge her as David Myer's daughter and get her the legal rights to claim what was meant for her from the start. I don't know why David Myer didn't include his son Klaus in the will but seeing his non-biased behavior toward his sister for something that should be both of theirs is incredible.
This doubt, that David had left his son out of the property papers has been bothering me ever since I found out about Denny. I wonder what secrets regarding the will he would enclose tomorrow. Or today.
"I know I can tell you anything," Olivia says, "I have no doubt you'd help but I am seriously fine,"
I raise my brow that calls her bullshit.
Her shoulders slump in recognition and she leans deeper to my side. "Okay, fine. I am not good. I am tired. The jet lag is getting to me even though our flight was for three hours. I am hungry, I am sweaty and most of all my feet hurt. These stupid boots aren't flat and they're.... oh god what are you doing?"
I didn't let her finish as I put our carry-ons aside and picked her up in my arms. My men will get them. I hold Olivia up as she squeaks and warms her hand around my neck. "Asher!"
"Hi!" I smile.
"What do you think you're doing?"
"I am-"
