Alessia frowned, squinting her eyes open, awakened from a deep sleep by her phone vibrating on the ground next to her bed. She reached for her watch on the bedside table.

'7am'

She stretched her arms out, turning over and reaching for her phone on the ground. In her half conscious confusion, she struggled to read the name on her screen, turning on her back, she fumbled her phone. Dropping it on her nose.

'For fucks sake' she let out a croaky groan. Her eyes watering as the bridge of her nose throbbed. She held her nose before sitting up, blindly feeling around the bed for her phone.

*2x Missed Call - Mearps ❤️*

It was strange for the goalkeeper to ring Alessia, especially at this time of the morning. Mary along with the majority of the United girls were more partial to a voice note.

She swiped on the notification, calling the goalkeeper back. The line didn't even ring, Mary answered immediately.

"Morning" The goalkeeper was pleasant but Alessia sensed a more serious undertone.

"Morning, you okay?" The blonde yawned, wiped her tired eyes and slipped her feet into her slippers before shuffling out of her room.

"Okay, I don't want you to panic but.. I had a phone call off Ella last night. Her and Joe have split up."

Alessia stopped in her tracks and she took a deep breath in. She must've heard wrong.

"She what?" She asked letting go of her breath.

"She and Joe have finished" Mary's tone was now dead serious.

"Where is she now? Are you at her flat?" Alessia questioned, turning on her heel and quickly heading into her bathroom.

"No she's had to come to mine. It's a really long story, she told me not to bother you but I think you should come see her. I've not seen her like this before Alessia"

"I'm on my way. I'm just going to get dressed and brush my teeth and I'll be there" the striker rummaged through the cabinet in the wall for her toothbrush and paste.

"Alright, see you in a bit"

"Mary, wait!" Alessia stopped her chaotic rummaging. "Why?"

There were a few seconds of silence from the goalkeeper. Alessia had pull the phone away from her ear to check that Mary was still there.

"Erm..."

"Is it because of something she done on the night out?" Alessia didn't want to reveal Ella's involvement with Ona to Mary if the midfielder hasn't told her.

"Are you talking about what I think you're talking about" Mary whispered, Alessia turned her phone on speaker and placed it on the side of the sink.

"I might be... but I can't tell you unless I know what you're talking about" Alessia spoke with her toothbrush in her mouth.

"You know who I'm talking about Less.."

"How did Joe find out?" She spat her toothpaste out reaching for some face wipes. She still darent say Onas name incase Ella hadn't told Mary.

"You'll have to ask Ella... she won't tell me" Mary sounded a bit stressed, which was very unusual for the goalkeeper.

"Alright. I'll be there in 10" Alessia hung up. Pulling her hair up and grabbing the clothes she had put on the day before.

******

Alessia's mind raced as she made her way over to Mary's. Her main concern was Ella.

She was puzzled and little hurt that she hadn't been the midfielders first call. She knew that in the grand scheme of things it was irrelevant but in situations like these they had always been each others first port of call.
