~ To be or not to be? That is the question. ~

Brielle Belafonte

I was walking to the office. I was told my mother was here. I don't like the sound of that it was unpleasant, especially after what Elizabeth got me intertwined with that girl. I can't believe she was so convincing that what I was doing was a good decision. I will honestly say that was my fault, but what did my mother have yo do with any of this? Wasn't she retired or something?

When I got to my office, she was sitting on the opposite chair of where my desk was. She had her full queen attire, and her wrinkles gave away her age but didn't make her seem old. Sometimes, I hate that we look alike. I sat behind the desk as we waited in silence for someone to break the ice and unnecessary tension. So, as per usual, I did it because the faster we did this the faster she could leave and I wouldn't see her until I had to be crowned queen which is in a few weeks from now

"To what do I owe these amazing pleasantries?" I asked, waiting for to reprimand me a about something I'm doing wrong again only this time I actually had a smile on my face

"A pet, Amber? You have truly put the Belafonte name in vein and disgrace as a to become queen you are disappointing." She started with her rambling, and I wasn't really paying attention, I never have. I never do.

It was irritating to be in my mother's presence nonetheless communicate with her. I didn't know who was worse, her or the one I called my sister. They were both equally draining. It made sense why they got along and why I was some sort of a third wheel because I was always left out when it came to both of them

"Amber!" She screamed at me. How I hated that name and the one who gave it to me was unbelievable and reliant. I hope he is rotting in hell somewhere

"Mother, leave will you." I told her, show casing how bored I was and how her presence was menacing.

"I'm disappointed in you, Amber. I should have had your sister as queen." She got up and swayed her dress, but before she could leave, I let out my energy on her words

"Oh, go to hell, women. I own a multimillionaire business for security and self-defense, and I run it. I've been doing that for over 50 years, without anyone's help, I only started at 70 years old, which is a very huge thing considering how young I was, and it has never been run to the ground. I am the heir to our royal kingdom of the underworld because we both know who you call your only daughter can't control anything even if she tried.

You can not deny how good I am at everything and anything that is thrown my way, and I don't think your dear sweet daughter told how much she was the one to kill her and begged me to save her because she felt guilty my pet and because I was so hungry and needed to quench my thirst for blood it was easy to say yes rather than no but that's on me I admit that. You have no right to tell me I'm disappointing to the family name when you don't even belong here and don't deserve my family name. Now get out of my office and don't show up as you please book a meeting like everyone else here. You're not special. I will see you at my coronation, and hopefully, that will be the last."

She got out of my office without saying another word, and I could tell my words had done the right damage it was almost amusing. After a few moments of solitude, my personal assistant, as well as my closest friend, walked in looking great as ever. Adelaide

"That looked like a heated situation." She replied as she sat opposite my desk. I just sighed at her remark

"What's today's view?" I asked, ready to take on the day

"Well, we have new recruits that need coaching on Monday next week. The news is all over your business, and you have a pet that I need to get the information of how you got there. Elizabeth is getting too close to our business again, just like her mother. The wolves are sniffing in the wrong places, and you have a meeting in 7 minutes. " She finished her report as she read through the file

"Schedule me for that Monday. My pet is fragile, and her name is Emaline, and I personally am uninterested. I need you to do a background check on her. Something about her isn't clear. Remind me to talk to Elizabeth, I already talked to her mother. As for the wolves, I think they are asking for another war, I swear they can't just admit they will never be better than us. Let me get to that meeting. Thank you." I got my document ready on my laptop as I got up from the chair

"I didn't think you were capable of having a pet, and yet again, I'm not a detective, dear Amber." She mimicked my mother's voice

"Yet you're so good at the job and call me that agian I'll add you to the list of people I need to murder." She just chalked at my comment, knowing very will that I had no enemies that were still alive or physically moving.
