Welcome, reader, to the mystical realm of chaotic thoughts that is my story. If you're already bored at this point, you should probably skip ahead to the first chapter. Go ahead. I won't mind. Now, all of you who stayed, thank you for caring about what I have to say. On with the introduction! To take a step up in professional attitude (but not much of one), Wikipedia defines the word "Introduction" as a "beginning section which states the purpose and goals of the following writing." To be brief, the "purpose" of this work is to share my speculations and to further appreciate one of my favourite books. I really enjoyed The Phantom Tollbooth, and during the analytical portions of my English class my classmates and I had begun to conspire about the true origins of the Lands Beyond. This book is the fruit of my continuing to develop said speculation.
If you haven't yet read the book this novel is inspired by, or even haven't read it recently, I avidly recommend that you find a copy and read that first, even though this is a prequel, as the events and refrences there are essential to full appreciation of the names and personalities of the characters here.
On a side note, for the devoted and/or completionist portion of my minuscule reader body, if you find any grammatical errors, tense inconsistencies, or any other areas with room for improvement, please feel free to notify me, if you feel like it.
