Crying in the middle of a dark, secluded alleyway in Fontaine was a child, whose warmth of their tears was their only source of comfort.

You were too young to understand. Why have your parents left you here? Were you now unlovable? Did you do something wrong?

Doubts filled your brain as you sulked on the floor, hugging your knees for warmth.

A tall, white-haired man walking by noticed a small figure of a child sitting amidst the darkness and decided to check on who it was.

You suddenly felt a hand falling on top of your head , and with teary eyes you looked up to meet the tall man's gaze.

"Little one," he spoke, "What's wrong? Why are you here?"

Sniffing, you replied, "My mom and dad left me here.. But I don't know why. Do they not love me anymore? Do they hate me?"

The man's brows furrowed in concern, feeling sympathy for the poor child.

"Oh my, little one, do not think of yourself like that, for you are a sweet child," he cooed, crouching down to match your height. He wiped your tears away, hoping it would somehow make you feel better.

"Tell me, what is your age?" he questioned.

"I'm-" You paused, counting the numbers on your fingers until you reached four. When you finished, you looked up at him to show your hand. "I'm four!"

"Four... you are just a little baby..." he said pitifully.

"Please, allow me to take you somewhere more comfortable. You must be cold and hungry in these awful streets."

He then, in a swift motion, picked you up in his arms.

"WoAh..!" You said, surprised at the sudden action. "I'm so tall!"

The man chuckled, "Well, little one, your height is quite normal for an adult like me."

Carrying you through the bustling streets of Fontaine, the crowd of people hushed to a whisper and pedestrians' gazes were directed towards the pair.

They murmured and muttered to themselves about the sight, whilst you, who knew nothing about Fontaine's hierarchy and their respect of their judiciary, simply laid your head onto the man's comfortable chest.

"Umm... Mr. Tall Man?" You spoke, lifting your head from his chest, "Where are we going? And why are so many people looking at us like that?" You asked, feeling a bit uncomfortable from their stare.

"Apologies, little one, I am Monsieur Neuvillette, the Chief Justice of Fontaine. I am taking you to the Justice Palace, where we will find a way to reunite yourself with your parents. As for the people, they're simply curious. There's nothing for you to be afraid of," he reassured you, patting your head.

"You're safe, little one, I promise."

"M... Mon-sir Noovilette..?" You mumbled, struggling to pronounce his name since you were still a child with no common knowledge of speech.

"Try again," he chuckled, "Monsieur Neuvillette."

"Mon-sieur Neu-vil-let-te. Monsieur Neuvillette!" You beamed at your achievement, "I did it!"

He laughed quietly at your excitement, "Well done little one."

Then, you both continued your way to the Justice Palace, soon finding yourselves in front of its grand double doors.
