The Road to Home

You and your best friend Hyatus were both driving down a long highway. The trees were few and far between as the plains stretched out across the road. The sun was near setting and the radio was relitively quiet despite the long ride. You've been driving for almost 9 hours now. A long ways away from your current home in Redding, California. As you were driving up North along the I-5 interstate you passed a city known as Olympia and it has changed a lot since you've last seen it. Soon however in the next hour you arrive in your old town of Spanaway. You look over to your best friend who was sleeping with a snore in the passenger seat, you shake him awake.

Y/N: "Yo dude, we made it. Mind waking up now or are you already bored?"

Hyatus: "Huh what! I'm awake I swear! I saw that uh road with the uh trees and stuff. Yeah great weather too."

Y/N: With the window wipers on full blast you stare at him, "Dude it's pouring. Anyway pick out something to eat. We got some spots around."

Hyatus: "Oh." He looked around taking in the sights...of the pouring rain and horrible driving. "Right uh, what about burgers? Doubt they're as good as they are in Cali but hey man, never know."

Y/N: "Right. Mcdonald's it is." You sigh.

The drive goes by as you both order food and settle in the parking lot to eat. You were scrolling through your phone as a text pops up from none other then your old childhood friend, seems like she stayed up in Spanaway with her family. You open the text to see what she said.

Ophelia: Yo you here yet? 6:06 p.m.
Y/N: Just arrived. You sure it's cool to stay over? 6:08 p.m.

You text her back hoping she would respond fast. The ding of your phone immedialty alarming you to a new text. You look at it.

Ophelia: Yeah already told you its cool. You remember our old house or am I gonna have to rescue you again from the "windy" roads. 6:10 p.m.
Y/N: Ha ha very funny. Yeah be there in 15. 6:11 p.m.

You set your phone back as you finish up some fries, Hyatus giving you a weird look as he stuffs his face with the burger. He lightly chokes as he pounds his chest before coughing a bit.

Y/N: "Jesus man slow your roll. You ain't gonna die in 5 seconds if you don't eat it."

Hyatus: "Ah whatever, someone's just jealous I can eat more then you. Anyways you said we're heading to your friend's place right?" He drinks some of his soda to wash the remaining bits down his throat.

Y/N: "Well that was the intention at the start, told you it was in the works but she texted me it's alright." You begin your drive down the road again.

Hyatus: "She huh? Great more women to live with." He would sigh.

Y/N: "Hey don't blame me you grew up with 5 sisters. I barely got a sibling to my name."

Hyatus: "You don't understand man. I had to suffer through makeup, dresses, pictures! Why do they take an hour for one picture!"

Y/N: "Alright alright. Don't worry she's an only child, its probably why we got along so well. Oh and her name is Ophelia. Try not to forget it."

Hyatus: "Yeah you were always unlucky with the ladies huh. You know my mom told me the key to any girl's heart is conf-" He was interrupted by you turning up the radio.

Y/N: "What! Sorry can't hear you! This radio must be broken!"

Hyatus: "Oh screw off!" He turned the radio down with a laugh. "So how long till we get there?"

Y/N: "Eh another 15 minutes or so. They live in a pretty small town."

Hyatus: "Cool, just let me know when we're there." He closes his eyes and in less then a minute is off to snoring again.
