"Where were you at? I felt you, but you-"

"And who is he?" Nikolai interrupts Imani, pointing at Kai who waves, wiggling his fingers. "Kai." Nikolai nods in acknowledgment.

Lilian sighs, "We know where your family is." Imani opens her mouth, eyes wide in shock, briefly turning gold. "There's something you should know..."

"Where are they?"

"Imani," Lilian says, heart racing when she briefly wonders how the young woman will react at the news.

"What's wrong?" Imani tenses up, preparing to hear the worst of news.

"What kind of ghosts are they?" They had finally found some peace away from the ghosts that were following them.

Both Kai and Lilian were tired, but staying true to not falling asleep, they kept walking, trying to figure out a way to find the purple dagger despite the sounds they heard or the darkness that surrounds them, the only light available being the full moon.

Lilian shook her head, "They were here before."

"I've been alone here for years, why haven't I seen them before?" Kai stopped counting the days, weeks, months, years, so long ago, that he didn't know what year it truly was. But he did know that he was alone for all of it, until Esther and Lilian came. "Maybe it's you?"
