It was a quiet, chilly Saturday morning. Well, more like forenoon, to be exact. Dean's always been a late riser.

He slowley sat up on his bed to check the time. It was almost 11 o'clock, Sophia was already up.

Him and Sophia have been married for almost 3 months now. They met at a bar, drank a few beers, talked a bit and had a little fun. Dean didn't think it would turn into a serious relationship but here they are. There was something about her ocean blue eyes that gave him so much comfort, he just couldn't let her go.

After knowing each other for a few months they moved in together to Sophia's place. It's a nice, little house on the countryside. It's not too far from the Men of Letters bunker where Sam and Eileen live.

When they've been together for 6 months, Dean decided to propose to Sophia. Sometimes he felt like this whole wedding thing was a bit rushed, but he was trying to do everything to forget about Castiel. His best friend, his partner in crime. His angel.

It wasn't a big wedding, only their closest family members and friends were invited. Sam, Eileen, Jody and the girls, and Sophia's family. Jack couldn't make it because he was busy rebuilding Heaven. He's been there for over a year now, Dean still has no idea what he's up to.

"Morning, sweetheart." He greeted Sophia with a kiss on the cheek after he finally got out of bed and went to the kitchen.

"Good morning." She smiled at Dean, then quickly returned to making pancakes. "Did you sleep well?"

"Yeah. Hey, do we have any plans for today?" He quickly changed the subject cause he actually hasn't had a good night sleep since Cas died. The same nightmare over and over again.

"It's the 5th of november, my sister's birthday. Did you forget?"

Dean's face suddenly darkens by hearing the date. The 5th of november. It's been exactly 1 year since Castiel sacrificed himself to save the world. To save Dean.

"Honey?" Sophia looks at him questioningly. "You didn't forget it, right?"

"No, of course not. Your sister's birthday." He forces a smile on his face. "When are we leaving?"

"Around 3. Here you go, bon appetit!" She brings the freshly made pancakes and sits down.

Dean is quiet during breakfast, he can't take his mind off Cas. Sometimes he wonders what would've happened if the angel would've confessed his feelings sooner. If they would've had more time.

But if he's honest with himself, probably nothing. Even in Cas' last moments, he couldn't say it back. Maybe his feelings were mutual but he still couldn't form those 3 little words. But would it have changed anything if he could? Cas would still be gone and it would hurt even more.

Dean is jolted out from his thoughts by the sound of the doorbell.

"Are we expecting someone?" Sophia looks at her husband.

"Not to my knowledge."

"I'll be right back." She gets up to answer the door.

Dean continues his breakfast and drinks his second cup of coffee. He can't go through a single day without having caffeine in his body.

"Dean! An old friend of yours is here."

"Coming!"

Who the hell could it be? Maybe Jack is finally back from Heaven? Dean has no idea, he puts down his coffee with an annoyed face and heads to the door.

As soon as he sees who's standing there, he immediately freezes.

"Hello, Dean."

Cas' blue eyes meet Dean's green ones. The angel is wearing his iconic trench coat like nothing has changed. Dean doesn't say anything, he doesn't know if this is really happening or he's just having another dream.
