Human greed is one of the most dangerous forces man has. It can bring a person to do things that were once thought impossible to achieve. This often leads to consequences, like in the following story we’re about to tell. A very long time ago, scientists were trying to come up with ways to defy the gods and take the power all for themselves…

BEEP!! BEEP!! BEEP!!

The alarms wailed as the sprinklers shot down water at a group of scientists sprinting all over the room in fear. The room was filled with a crimson red and navy blue light.

“THE EXPERIMENT HAS GOTTEN OUT OF CONTAINMENT!! EVERYONE EVACUATE THE BUILDING!! I REPEAT!! EVACUATE THE BUILDING!!”

Earlier, scientists had been conducting experiments to improve the human race, seeing if they could achieve god-like power. They started off experimenting on an orphan child. In this time period, experimenting on kids was legal. Scientists would often experiment on corpses and on themselves, but this required something different. A corpse would be useless in this case due to them being unalive (not to mention it could create an apocalypse-like virus), and testing on other scientists wasn’t a good idea. They needed all the available scientists to assist. Now, the girl was far too young to understand what was happening. They had told her the lab was just a clinic separated from the rest. They said it was just a flu shot, when in reality, it was a substance that would give her powers greater than those imagined. Or at least they hoped it would. After all, it was still a work in progress, and she would be the first to test it against her will. The frightened girl sat on a chair as they injected the substance onto her arm. The green liquid moved slowly inside her arm, making its way to her system. The scientists working with her backed away, waiting for a reaction. Nothing happened.

A couple of days later, the girl started to experience aches. Very painful aches. They were all caused by a mutation that had happened inside her due to the substance. Worried, scientists put her under containment in a room with a wide glass window to see the side effects. Slowly, she started mutating into a weird creature. She screamed in fright as she didn’t know what was happening to her. She started losing control over herself. Like in any other experiment, something went wrong. But not like all the other times… the experiment was able to get out of containment. Scientists sprinted towards the emergency exits, hoping to get out, but the creature; once a human, was attacking them. One by one, they went down. Their last words were… “Stronger than the he-”

RING!! RING!! RING!!

“Alright class that is it for today!” announced a teacher. “I hope to see you all after the break! Have a great rest of your day!” Students flooded out of the room chatting, except six that were still packing up.

“I wish I could’ve finished my story!” Whined a girl with a light blue turtleneck sweater.

“I know you liked that story, but I didn’t think it would be THAT interesting,” said another girl with pink hair.

“Hey Yvi, how does it end?” asked a boy with magenta hair.

“You are going to have to wait to find out, Jaimy!” said Yvi. “I can’t just spoil it!”

“What, that's not fair!” Jaimy yelled out. “Candy, tell her it’s not fair!” The girl with pink hair named Candy snooped into the conversation.

“I kind of agree with him on that one, Yvi.” Yvi's dragon ears drooped down, looking at Candy, trying not to pout.

“She won’t say, believe me,” said a tall boy with cinnamon brown hair that was next to Yvi. “I think that not revealing the story is the best for now. It makes it seem… What's the word..? Interesting.” He said as he nudged Jaimy with his elbow.
