THE NIGHT OF THE ELITE CHOOSING
Chloe Haverfield
"And now, ladies and gentlemen." Ivan Adarke boomed from the television screen I was peering at. "Let me welcome the Crown Prince Grayson Douglas Alexander Beau Castillo of Carrington!"
A chorus of claps erupted as Grayson sat down and gave a small wave.
"It's good to see you again, Ivan." The prince said, brushing back his hair with one of his spectacularly tanned hands.
"Likewise Your Majesty, likewise. Now, let's talk about what the entire nation has been waiting for, choosing your Elite!"
The claps boomed once more and Grayson gave another smile.
"Ah, yes. I am quite frazzled at this event, but I am also very excited of what our great nation can give me."
Whistles and cheers erupted in the background. One person yelled, "Yeah, baby!"
"That is a wonderful statement, my Prince. Now tell me, what are you looking for in a woman?" Ivan asked.
"I would want my ideal partner and I to be able to form a relationship that reflects the nation in a vivid way. As king, I definitely intend to put our great country first and I hope my future wife feels the same way." Grayson answered.
"Very good, Your Majesty. Let's move on. Do you have any comments about the trade deal with Russia?"
"Television off," I commanded. I didn't want to hear about the stupid trade deal again. It would just cause another war. The screen remained black in a blank state and the speakers powered down.
"What did you do that for, Chlo?" My little sister, Clair asked. "I was watching that!"
"I know, I know. I just got sick of hearing about the trade deal, all right?" I retired.
"Okayyyyyy fine." Clair whined. "The important part is over anyway."
"I'm surprised he didn't talk about it too much." I commented.
"Maybe he is a little scared. You've gotta give him a chance, Chloe." Clair stated.
"True, true." I remarked.
"Anyways, I hope it's you. It would be nice to live in a kingdom." said Clair.
My sister and I lived in a small cottage with a tiny hearth and garden. To the Upper class it was nothing, but to us it was everything.
"Yeah. That would be great."
I truly wondered what it would be like as Grayson's handpicked Elite, who became the Princess, and later, the Queen.
Would it be horrible or one of the best experiences of my life? For one thing, I didn't know nothing about running a country or even being a Queen.
"Mama and Papa would be proud of you if you were chosen. The windows weren't slightly cracked open for anything you know."
I shuddered. The thought of being taken out of my home from the palace scared me.
"Yeah, but I don't really want to be Prince Grayson's Elite. There are millions of girls here, so he has a lot of options." I stated.
"But there is still a chance of it being you." said Clair.
"A small percentage, perhaps." I noted.
"Stop the whining, Chloe Isabelle Haverfield! Our parents did everything to make sure one of their daughters was picked to be the next Queen of England!"
