The two walked in silence, Wong frustrated and focused, Stella nervous and unsure.
They rounded a corner and a large ornate building caught Stella's attention. It stood out against the wall of flat, undefined structures, its columns and window frames popping out against the brick.
The most defining feature however was the large, circular window that adorned the roof.
It felt straight out of fiction, a Victorian structure that could hold any number of secrets and Wong was beelining straight for it.
"Um .. where are we-" Stella nervously began to speak, only for Wong to cut her off.
"Don't ask questions, fake wife."
Stella was taken back, scoffing at Wong as they walked. She was confused by what he said, but more offended than anything else, even if she didn't know why.
As they got closer, Stella got a better look, taking note that at ground level, it seemed less out of place, explaining why many walked straight past it.
Its large wooden doors were unassuming to most, but little did Stella know, they held many terrifying secrets.
Wong walked up the stairs, turning around to gesturing Stella inside. She had stopped, taking note of the address etched on a plaque to the right of the door.
'177a Bleecker St.' Stella ran the address through her mind as she looked back up at the structure, her confusion only growing. 'I swear this was just a little shop and apartment building, what happened?'
As the two stepped inside, Stella's jaw dropped, the ornate nature of the building not stopping with the details outside.
It was stunning, mixed wood types crafted into the most intricate designs embellished the floor. Vases, globes and other trinkets that looked antique were littered across every surface. All of it was tied together with the massive, lavish staircase in the centre.
Stella spun around in awe, almost falling over some globes placed in the middle of the entryway.
"This place, It's a Tardis! It's so much bigger on the inside!" Stella gasped with excitement, forgetting all of her previous fear. "If you're gonna murder me, I'm okay with it being in here."
"A what?" Wong asked, confused. This caught Stella off guard.
"A Tardis. You know ... doctor who?" She was baffled. How did someone not know the cultural phenomenon?
"It's Doctor Strange, not Who. You should know this." Wong sounded frustrated, leaving Stella to shake her head.
"You know what?" Stella sighed, waving away the conversation as she continued to look around amazed. "It doesn't matter."
Stella made her way back over to Wong, who was now standing on the other side of the staircase. Next to him was an old, Victorian lounge set.
"Sit." Wong said sternly, pointing to the chair.
Stella cautiously sat down, her justifiable nerves returning. As the two sat in silence, Stella began to notice that Wong was acting strange.
He sat upright, staring straight at her. He didn't seem angry, honestly he didn't seem anything. His emotionless expression was more intriguing to Stella than concerning.
'Is he still breathing?' She found herself wondering curiously.
"So." Stella said, breaking the silence. Wong shifted slightly, earning a relieved sigh from the woman. "Want to tell me what's going on?"
"He'll explain, it's a long story." Wong said, purposefully leaving his statement vague. This, however, didn't sit right with Stella.
"Can't I get an abbreviated version? Just to ease my nerves a little." Stella asked, her voice softer than before.
