Micah's pov
Idiot's! The entire lot of us!
All the information we need to beat Malcomb has been right at our fingertips, yet we screw things up again and again. Thankfully, Azariah remembered a very important tidbit of information before we sent the crew up to the boot camp.
While I wait for Alpha Finn to get back so we can head up to Bloodmoon, I decide to go see Amber and make sure she doesn't need anything. Sure, I can just call her, but where's the fun in that? Plus, now that I know where the sugar cookie and vanilla scents were coming from, I'm all the more intrigued. I fell asleep far too fast last night before I got a chance to enjoy it.
Okay, and maybe being away from her for the last hour has me antsy as hell. I know for a fact that she's safely tucked away in her lab, and yet my brain is trying to tell me otherwise.
The two guards that we had stationed outside the main doors were on high alert as I walked up to them. Jace had the place cleared out and guards in place within fifteen minutes of us leaving that meeting. He's certainly proving to be more efficient than even Alek.
"Good afternoon, Alpha Micah. How can we help you?" They both step closer to each other, blocking the door from me.
"Good afternoon," I say skeptically. I look them both over several times, "I'm here to see Amber, if you'll excuse me."
"I'm sorry, access to this facility is prohibited. No exceptions."
"Real funny, guys. Now, please step aside as I'm busy today." I put on my tried and true polite smile, but it does nothing to sway them.
"I'm awfully sorry, Alpha Micah, but we were given strict orders to not let anyone through except Luna Amber, Ryan, and their two assistants Priya and Henley if they show up." Neither of them budges. If anything, they squeeze closer together.
"And who exactly do you think gave you these orders?" I cross my arms over my chest and drop the smile. I'm quickly finding this more annoying than amusing.
"Jace did."
"Do I really need to point out who gives Jace his orders?" I bark at them.
"I'm pretty sure that person is Azariah," The one on the left snickers at me.
An evil thought comes to mind. "Hmm, you know what, I think you're right. Maybe I should call her and get this cleared up." I pull out my phone and pretend to be looking for her number. "Do you pups remember about a month ago when all the males stayed far away from her because she bit someone's dick off?"
They look at each other in wide-eyed horror, then step apart faster than teenagers who just got caught making out. As I strut past them, I let out a condescending chuckle, "That's what I thought."
Seriously though, who would have thought that I'd need to threaten a couple of males with my own Beta? I should have been enough to make them move, not give me an even harder time. Just a minute ago, I was thinking about what an upstanding job Jace had done. Son of a bitch probably told them not to let me in. If I had the time, I'd consider some pay back.
Walking down the hallway to her private lab, it dawns on me that this is the quietest this hallway has ever been. Not a soul in site. Someone went as far as to turn out half of the lights, probably to save on electricity. It certainly was adding to the damn creepy factor here. I pick up the pace before I can convince myself to look behind me and see if someone was there.
True to his word, Jace had an additional two guards posted outside her door. I prepare myself for another argument, but all they do is nod at me and then step aside. Her door is locked, so I bang on it, then wait for her to open up.
