26 - Just like old times

Lewis's POV
I have been married to Lucia for a year now and I'm happy I really am. Eztli had a baby, I congratulated her and sent her her favorite bottle of champagne. She sent me a thank you note along with my necklace, the fact that she still had it after all these years. I had forgotten about it. I took it off on our first new year's together and found her wearing it. She had worn it all these years and I loved seeing her wear it, but in these past few months I saw she no longer wore it and now I know why. She has a daughter. She looks so much like her, her name is Laura, and L name. The name she and I said we wanted to name our future daughter. She beat me to it.

It's Friday so that means free practice.

Lucia: hey babe what time are we heading to the track?
Lewis: around 9 a.m
Lucia: great I have plenty of time to get ready
Lewis: it's hot so make sure you wear something light
Lucia: i know i know
Lewis: if i win this weekend it'll put me ahead and I will win the championship my tenth championship
Lucia: i know aren't you excited babe
Lewis: yeah

Lucia's POV
I noticed he was distracted. He's been weird lately, ever since Eztli announced she had given birth.

Lucia: i heard Eztli was coming and bringing her daughter
Lewis: really?
Lucia: yeah can you believe it and she'll be watching on the grounds like every other fan

Lewis chuckled.

Lewis: you know she never misses this race and it's her tradition to watch it like that
Lucia: i know but she has a daughter now and it's hot
Lewis: I'm sure she has taken preventative measures relax
Lucia: well enough about her lets go I'm ready

Eztli's POV
I found it hilarious when everyone stared at me in disbelief when I said I'd still be watching the race from turn 1 on the grounds. Marco wasn't a fan, but he made sure we had electric fans and someone to hold our spot throughout the day alongside heavy security. It was a hot day and my girl was not having it she was fussy all day that we ended up going back to the hotel. Thankfully I had babysitters so Marco & I could go party after the free practice. We had been arguing these past few months, ever since our daughter was born I've felt unhappy with my life she is the only thing that makes me feel anything. He started getting distant since she was 3 months old. So I hoped we could have fun this weekend.

One thing that happened unexpectedly was that I slowly started getting in contact with Lewis through letters. Actual paper letters. It was our secret and it all started because of Laura.

Marco: thats what you're worried about, what about Lewis bringing up new years
Eztli: marco are you stupid???? That was years ago
Marco: yet Lando remembers, Sofie remembers. Everyone remembers how happy you were and what do I get
Eztli: i can't feel happy right now marco you know how hard it's been
Marco: they get a happy Eztli and I get someone who has my child and then doesn't even want me to touch her
Eztli: it's been hard marco but you're never home anymore so you don't see the half of it
Marco: i have been working to provide for us
Eztli: you have been on the road since the Monaco GP and when you're not on the road you are in the factory, you literally drove us to crema and left us there for two whole months
Marco: for work Eztli
Eztli: that second month was literal vacation for everyone at the factory too , you asshole

Few minutes later....

Eztli: I'm going to my friends apartment i can't be here with you anymore

I packed my bags and took Laura with me and spent the night over at Sofies dad's property. The next day I did stay in the paddock as I realized my daughter was not ready to be a grounds pass fan. During my brief lunch break I saw Lewis. He came over to talk and I invited him to eat along with Luisa.

Lucia: so how does it feel to be a mom??
Eztli: i love it, she's amazing
Lewis: how are you feeling?
Lucia: she literally just answered
Eztli: I'm doing good, it's been hard these past few months with you and Charles being neck in neck
Lewis: yeah it's been stressful
Lucia: but you'll win so no worries
Eztli: the Ferrari upgrades have been doing really good lately
Lewis: yeah i know, it's made it tough lately
Eztli: but you love a good race
Lewis laughed, and said "that i do"

Lewis POV
After lunch I walked Eztli to her suite, her daughter was beautiful. I wished she was mine. I did notice Eztli seemed different, sad even. I invited her to a afterparty many drivers were planning on going to. I hoped she'd stop by even if it meant seeing Marco with her. She needed to remember how it was.
