I stood at the end of my bed, zipping up my suitcase. I looked at both my suitcases with a sad sigh, sitting down. I don't want to leave, this place has become my home. I traveled here from America for a visit just over three years ago but I fell in love with the country and decided to stay.
My family didn't like my decision though and I haven't talked to them since. Not by my choice though. I want to talk to them, but they never pick up my calls. The only one who does is my twin brother, Rhys. Very rarely though. But now, he's sick. And I have to go back and take care of him.
Within a few months of being here, I met my best friend, Javi Gutierrez. He quickly revealed his love for Nicholas Cage and the two of you bonded over the fact that you've met him. Your family works in the show business and you met him at a party.
In the years I've known Javi, I've fallen in love with him. If anyone would ask me to describe him as a colour, it would be gold. Everything about the man is golden. His hair, his smile, his personality. It hurts that I'm going to leave him. But I have no choice.
I'm leaving in three days. And those three days are going to be spent with him. I haven't told him yet though, I'm dreading seeing the upset look on his face when I do so. I don't want to tell him straight away but I also don't want to tell him too late either.
I grabbed my two suitcases, starting to take them out to the car, with a sigh. I chucked them in the back of my SUV, looking at the small home with sad smile on my face.
A car's tires driving on the gravel road, pulled me from my thoughts. It's the owner's daughter of the house, Annalise. I was renting it from her mother. She got out of the car and started to quickly make her way over.
"Hello, how are you?" she spoke in broken English.
"I'm good..." I'm sad "...how are you?"
"Excellent!" she exclaimed, smiling.
I handed her over the keys, pursing my lips together.
"Everything is spic and span."
"Wonderful. But you do understand I have to check, yes?"
"I understand..." I nodded, sitting in my car "...I'll wait here."
I got my phone out of my pocket, bringing up Javi's number. I looked at the contact photo, smiling softly. It's a photo of him, grinning from ear to ear, his hair curly and a little messy. He's so adorable. I went to press the little phone button in the corner, but Annalise walked back out, still with a smile on her face, stopping me from doing so.
"Everything looks fine. ..." she smiled, bowing her head a little "...Have a safe trip back to America."
"Thankyou." I smiled, starting my car, starting to drive.
*~*~*
I pulled up to Javi's castle like home, quickly getting out. I went to the trunk of my car, grabbing only one suitcase and walked up to his front door. My knuckles knocked on his glass door, hearing footsteps approaching a few moments later. The door opened swiftly, his assistant, Gabriela on the other side, a smile on her face as she saw me.
"Good afternoon, Miss L/n. ..." she smiled again, opening the door more "...Mr Gutierrez is expecting you. He is by the pool."
I knew that was most likely going to be the case. That's one of his favourite places. She lead me to the guest room I've stayed in so many times, motioning me inside. I put the suitcase down on the bed, looking over my shoulder at Gabriela.
