Police sirens blared in the distance as the little girl hid, trembling in the closet afraid she would get caught.
The first floor of the house was a complete mess. There were blood splatters covering the walls and floors. Broken glass littered the carpets. And in the middle of it all, a woman lay still on the floor in a puddle of blood. A man stands over this woman, a bloodied knife clutched in his hand.
The little girl freezes in her spot and clutches her teddy bear, tears flowing down her pale cheeks, as she hears footsteps start coming up the stairs.
The police sirens get closer to the house, as the footsteps get closer to the girls hiding spot. She holds her breath as the mans hand reaches out towards the doorknob of the closet.
He rips open the closet door at the same time the front door bursts open. The man swings his knife in a panic and catches the girls face with his blade, leaving a long bloody cut that reaches from her eyebrow to right below her cheekbone.
The girl screams at the top of her lungs to alert the police downstairs and the man runs to a window in panic, but he's not fast enough and the police easily catches him.
Later, at the hospital, the girls father shows up after hearing the news. The girl's mother was declared dead not long after.
The cut that the man left upon the girl's face will leave a scar, a permanent reminder of the day her life went to hell.
