Part Six: The Plan
Lilith unrolled an empty scroll, immediately starting to scrawl kanji and small images across it.
There was a vague look of boredom on Chaos' face as she watched.
'What is it?' Chaos finally asked after five long minutes of silence.
'A summoning scroll,' Lilith beamed at Chaos.
Chaos considered, 'What does it summon?'
In reply Lilith pointed to the scroll and exclaimed happily, 'Me!'
'A summoning scroll that summons a person?' Chaos looked interested, she leaned forward to examine it, 'what for?'
'For the chunin exams, so I can be there if you need help,' answered Lilith.
'I don't think I'll need help.'
Lilith rolled her eyes, 'Will you take it, anyway?' she rolled up the scroll and held it out.
Chaos considered, then accepted the scroll, attaching it to her belt.
'Yip,' went Asami, peering over Chaos's shoulder.
'Where did you get the puppy?' asked Lilith, ruffling the pups' fur.
'I'm not sure, it found me,' replied Chaos.
===========================================
There was a knock at the door.
Lilith grumbled from where she had her face buried under the blankets, the taller girl had made her way into Chaos's room at some point.
Chaos sighed and climbed out of bed, it was 3am, who would be obnoxious enough to wake her up at this house?
She tugged a longer shirt on before going to the door, flinging it open with a scowl.
'Good morning! believe it,' it was Naruto.
Chaos glared at him and slammed the door in his face.
'Who was it?' asked Lilith, exiting Chaos's room, yawning sleepily.
'Naruto,' growled Chaos, stomping away towards the bathroom.
Lilith giggled and picked up Asami before skipping into the kitchen.
It was an odd feeling for Chaos, living with someone so cheerful, Lilith never even seemed to mind Chaos's behaviour, no matter how emotionless she sometimes acted, or how grumpy she was at other times.
Lilith herself was seldom in a bad mood.
Chaos turned on the shower, stripping off before getting in, even over the shower Chaos could hear Lilith singing.
It wasn't all bad, Lilith had a nice voice.
Once she was out of the shower, Chaos quickly dressed before going into the kitchen, where she assumed Lilith would be.
'Good morning,' beamed Lilith, undaunted by the early start to the day, on the table sat four plates, one in the centre piled high with pancakes and three places set around it.
'Three?' questioned Chaos.
Lilith nods, and skips over to the door, swinging it open to reveal a sleeping Naruto.
He woke with a start and smiled sheepishly at the pair.
Chaos sighed and took a seat at the table, spearing one pancake and moving it to her plate.
Now Naruto noticed the pancakes and he was instantly at the table, piling his plate high with pancakes.
'Did you cook these, Lilith-chan?' he asked happily.
Lilith beamed and nodded, also taking a seat.
'Arigato,' chorused Naruto and Chaos before starting on their meals.
Chaos picked her pancake into bits, occasionally slipping small bits into her mouth.
Meanwhile Naruto and Lilith were shovelling pancakes into their mouths, seemingly trying to out eat each other.
Lilith finished first and flopped to the floor with a sigh.
'I win,' beamed Naruto.
Asami barked, wagging her tail happily.
Immediately Lilith tended to the dog, ruffling his fur happily and making faces at him.
'Come on, Chaos!' exclaims Naruto, 'Lets go to the Academy, now, believe it!'
Chaos glanced over to a clock on the wall, 'It's a little early,' she commented.
'I wish time would go by faster,' sighed Naruto, slumping back onto the chair.
'No, Chaos isn't prepared, yet,' Lilith whined.
With a sigh Chaos allowed Lilith to pull her into the living room.
Naruto went to follow but Lilith held up one hand, 'Go prepare yourself,' she paused, 'or big Sasuke.'
'Okay, believe it,' replied Naruto, leaving the house with a sad look on his face.
'Strip off,' Lilith instructed Chaos.
Chaos blinked, taken aback, 'Excuse me?' she replied.
'Take off your clothes.'
'Take off my clothes?' repeated Chaos.
'Yes,' answered Lilith, 'you can keep your under things on.'
With a sigh Chaos stripped herself of her clothes, leaving her in boxer shorts and a white undershirt.
Lilith beamed, Chaos now looked around the living room, noting all sorts of piles of things.
'You'll need a lot of weapons,' noted Lilith.
Lilith passed a pair of shorts to Chaos, she immediately put them on, and was disappointed to find they were barely longer than her boxer shorts.
'There are sort of short,' commented Chaos.
"They're meant to be,' answered Lilith, she picked up a thick leather belt, adjusting it on Chaos's hips.
Chaos watched with uninterested eyes.
'Yip,' went Asami contently, curling up on one of the seats.'
Lilith held up a scroll, 'this one is to summon me, you know how to use it, right?'
'Of course,' answered Chaos with a nod.
With a smile, Lilith attached the scroll to Chaos's belt.
Lilith passed the shorter girl a dark red tank top, Chaos pulled it on, wondering how long this would take.
'I have to make sure you're ready,' explains Lilith, 'The chunin exams can be very dangerous.'
'Then I'll need my katana,' answered Chaos dully.
'Lilith nods, 'Not yet,' she passes some black and white striped socks to Chaos.
With a sigh, Chaos sits and pulls them on, they extend to two inches below the bottom of the shorts and are slightly loose.
'The're loose, I can't wear these, they'd fall down,' commented Chaos.
'It'll be fine,' said Lilith, she grabbed some small belts, attaching the tops of each sock to the bottoms of the shorts one belt on either sock at the front and back.
Chaos shivered.
'Cold?' pouted Lilith.
Taking this into consideration, Lilith picked up a leather jacket and allowed Chaos to slip it on.
The jacket wasn't full length, instead it only reached her waist.
Looking on the inside, Chaos could see many pockets sewn into the inside, she supposed they were meant to be concealed pockets, each held a small throwing knife.
Lilith now put Chaos's twin katana, slipping them into their sheathes and attaching them to the belt at Chaos's hips so they rest across the back of the small girls' hips.
'This is another summoning scroll, you can use it to summon a broadsword, I assume you can use one,' she held it up before tucking it into one of Chaos's pockets.
Asami stretched and yawned in his sleep.
'I'm not very good with a broadsword,' replied Chaos, 'I prefer taijutsu over using weapons.'
'I'll teach you to use one better,' beamed Lilith, offering Chaos a pair of boots.
The boots were black and had several zips, also reaching up to just below her knees.'
'Is this all?' asked Chaos.
Lilith shook her head, 'This scroll,' she paused, 'summons Asami,' she tucked it into another of Chaos's pockets before stepping back and examining Chaos for a moment.
After a pause, Chaos also glanced down at herself, it was a strange outfit.
'A first aid kit,' decided Lilith after a moment, she rummaged through piles of stuff on the floor before selecting a bunch of items and tucking them into pockets on Chaos's jacket.
'All done,' Lilith finally decided, beaming.
The sun was now shining through the windows.
'Just in time,' noted Chaos tonelessly.'
'I'll walk you there,' beamed Lilith, and the pair left the house.
============================================
Inside, Naruto was exasperated to find that the first test, was in fact, a test, with questions he had to answer.
Chaos glanced around, trying not to be too obvious.
One of the rules had been not to cheat, but the way they'd said it, were they meant to cheat?
Now Chaos glanced down at the sheet of paper, but the answers were so simple, she pondered to herself, unsure of what she should do.
Finally she decides to just fill them in, rather than risk being being caught cheating.
She could hear Naruto freaking out, as he didn't know the answers to any of the questions, and apparently hadn't thought to cheat.
Chaos's hand twitched towards the scroll for summoning Lilith, but she stopped herself, there was no way Lilith could help her here, nor did she need the taller females assistance.
Ibiki stood and started speaking, 'Okay, now for the tenth question.'
'Now, you can chose not to answer this question, but if you don't, you and your team will be automatically failed,' explained Ibiki, 'If you do pick to answer this question and get it wrong, your team will be failed, and you will not be able to take the Chunin exams ever again!' he ended this speech with a harsh smile.
Chaos stared blankly, what?
Could he do that? Bar a team of Genin's from taking the exams again based on them getting one question wrong?
Did becoming a Genin even matter to her?
Chaos cast a gaze around the room, a few teams had left on this information, they didn't want to take the chance.
'Are you sure you want to stay?' asked Ibiki, 'Keep in mind that if you fail you'll never be able to take these exams again.'
Naruto stood, slamming his fist on his desk, Chaos turned around to look, her gaze bored.
'No! I won't give up! Even if I have to remain a genin forever! you can't and won't scare me into backing down!'
================================
A false tenth question to test their courage.
Chaos was fuming as they went to the second exam, she was almost considering freeing her katana and beheading Anko.
Well, attempting.
Even at first glance, Chaos could tell Anko was the more skilled ninja.
Anko explained the objective before sending everyone towards the large training grounds.
Chaos stood with Naruto and Sasuke at one of the many entrances, shifting from foot to foot uneasily.
The signal came and the three took off running, Chaos did a flip as she jumped up into a tree, Naruto and Sasuke at her heels.
Immediately Chaos took their scroll from naruto, 'I'll hold onto it.'
'Why do you get to hold onto it, believe it,' whined Naruto.
'Because I can keep it safe,' replied Chaos, hiding it in one of her pockets.
They started walking through the forest.
