By the age of 12 I began to find ways to escape the bullies, after school I took a new pathway home one that only I knew existed. It went through the woods and was not to far from the school yards. This helped me for some time I even grew to like the forest. I learned how to use the sticks and nature to build things, I finally found a place of my own after sometime I made own little area with a bridge, garden, and supplies. I learned how to make traps and things to alert me when wild life are growing close to my area.

As time went on some of the other kids started to catch on, for whenever I disappeared towards the end of the day all the kids would stare in my direction after sometime word got out about my get aways. The word got to Cole, Jessie, Rich, and Beck and they weren't to happy to find out that I had been avoiding them.

The next day while I was walking along the path, I heard foot starts being dragged behind me. Picking up the paste I started speed walking, then running I could hear them calling out from behind me. "Hey Malu where you going?" Followed by the annoying sound of their laughter. The four of them were gaining on me I ran straight towards the traps hoping they would work. I could hear each trap going off behind me followed by the thud followed by their groans of pain. I ducked down behind a dead tree holding back my laughter when I realized they were getting backup onto their feet. Beck signaled the others suddenly Beck let out a smoothing calm whistle to the others. The others joined in grabbing all sorts of stuff. Pebbles and dirt were flying everywhere and then things went quiet I peeked around the dead tree to see the four of them waiting for me to show my self. Before ambushing be they were coming closer and I started to backup and tried to make my exit before it was too late. I grabbed some rocks and hid them in my sleeves when I stood up from behind the tree I was blinded with dirt to the face. My eyes were stinking and I couldn't see anything the pain of the rocks being thrown against my body caused me to collapse onto the ground groaning in pain I covered my head waiting for it to be over.

When they ran out of things to throw at me, they decided to take a much more forceful approach. Cole grabbed me and held me so Jessie and Rich could throw their punches, my vision was blurry and my body was aching I wanted to run away or fight back but I couldn't my nose started bleeding and Cole finally dropped me on the ground left me gasping for air. My body was too weak to get back up and the taste of blood filled my mouth, "What's wrong Malu can't fight no more?" Cole said as Beck kicked me in the gut. I decided to give up that there was no more use in trying to fight I gave in and passed out on the ground. When I opened my eyes again it took a few seconds for me to regain my site, it was dark out and Beck, Cole, Jessie and Rich had seemed to disappear.

I realized my mother must have been waiting for me to come back home. With the little strength I had left I pulled my self back up and started limping back in the direction of my house. It probably took me over 30 minutes to reach my house, and when I did there my mom was waiting inside, when she heard the knock on the door she ran to open it with tears running down her face she looked at me shaking and asked in a worried voice, "Lucas what happened to you?... Where have you been? Who did this to you?"

I could tell the sight of me and my absence had scared her badly. All I could say was "I'm tired mom..." it was true I was too tired to explain what happened and I didn't have enough energy to respond to anymore question. I was too weak, too exhausted and I couldn't think straight. She pulled me into her arms and held me close kissing my head whispering, "Oh my baby boy, my poor baby, What have they done to you?" I could hear the pain in her voice as she held me tight. I wanted to say something I wanted to tell her that I'm ok and everything was fine, but she would know I was lying. I didn't want her to worry I felt awful seeing her like this. But all I could do was hold onto her gently hugging her back, I could feel the cold tears rolling down my cheeks before I collapsed and drowned back into my unconscious.
