×Maddie×

I love Saturdays. I just hope Dakota doesn't show up again. I really don't want him being around. My parents act like he's amazing, but he really isn't.

"Hey! Maddie!" My mother says.
"What?" I yell.
"Dakota is here to see you, I'd like you to talk to him"
"Mother, I wouldn't like to talk to him."
"Fine. He's coming up there."

I hear footsteps going up the stairs. Unfortunately, there is only a lock on the front of the door. When I was home alone, Dakota used to lock me up there and leave. I'd be locked in my room for over six hours. Until my parents got home. I always said Dakota did it and they said that I probably pissed him off. The door opens and Dakota walks in. His eyes hit me and he walks over to my desk and sits in the chair and scoots it next to my bed.

"I'm sorry" he says.
"Dakota! You've done this so many times! I give you way to many chances!"
"You little bitch. I told you. You're staying with me whether you like it or not."
"I'M GOING TO GO HANG OUT AT THE COUNTRY CLUB UNTIL 10!" my mother yells.
"No. I don't want to get with you."

Dakota looks out the window and sees my parents are now gone.

"Have fun locked in here for the next 10 hours." Dakota says and walks out and locks the door.
"Dakota! No!" I yell and pound on the wood door.

My bedroom is on the third floor. I can't get outside. After what seems like forever, I see Ben walk down the street. I open my window and call his name.

"Ben! Ben! Ben!" I yell.
Ben looks around cluelessly, then he finally sees me.
"Im locked in here! There is a key under the window seal on the left of the house. Grab it and unlock the door!" I yell.
I see Ben run over to the left of the house. Then I hear footsteps run upstairs.

"Maddie?" He asks.
"Yes!"

He opens the door with a worried expression.
"What happened?" He asks.
"Fucking Dakota" I sigh and exhale.
"I'm sorry, want me to go?"
"Nah, stay here for awhile, I got my bass." I say.

Ben

Maddie is so damn beautiful. I'm definitely not good enough for her. She's the most popular girl in the school and I'm just a loser. Everyone hates me and picks on me. My only friend is Daniel. We just call him Platz though. He's not very popular either.

As I look into Maddie's eyes I find myself lost.

"Ben!" I hear Maddie yell as I snap out of my daydream.
" I'm.. Sorry"
"Its alright"
"So do you want to play a certain song or do you not care"
"I truly don't care" she says.

She holds the bass and I notice she is holding it completely wrong. Her posture is terrible.
"Sorry to cut you off before you even play, but your posture is terrible" I say laughing.
She laughs.
I move her into the right position and I notice my hands on her hips and she flicks them away.
"Uh- well, first.."
"Actually, I really don't feel like playing. I'm just not in the mood"
"Do you want me to lea-" I say.
"Yeah, sorry. See you on Monday Ben"

I'm walking home and see Maddie's mothers car cruising down the street making just about no noise. I feel as if someone is staring at me and the car stops. The window rolls down slower than Maddie's mother wants it to.

Maddie's mother said, "Ben come here. I have a lot to ask you"

A part of me wanted to run away. I obviously know this isn't going to end well.

"I want you to stay away from Maddie. We don't need an ghetto scums coming into our house. Keep yourself out. If I do find you with her, I promise you that'll be the last time you see her. I'll be monitoring her phone too. So stay away!" Maddie's mother says and then drives away.

Well, that couldn't of gone any worse.

When I get home my dad is on the couch watching the news. Normal stuff on the news, gas prices, taxes, everything money.

"Dad, I saw this girl Maddie today and -"
"Maddie?" My dad asks.
"You know her?"
"Oh my goodness I know her parents. Complete assholes. Stay away from her and them. They're all trouble."
"Oh," I say.

My mother left us about 11 years ago. She was never a good mother either. She didn't work and was always drunk. She hit me when I was little. My dad has had the constant fear of some other girl doing that to me again, so he refuses to date. It's kind of sad. It must go through his head a lot. No one to come home to except me. I love my father though. He's a great man.

Well, the sun is setting. I wonder how many times Dakota and Maddie watched the sunset? Did they have that kind of relationship? He looked controlling. I mean, its none of my business, I suppose.

My bed is extremely comfy tonight. I don't why. I feel like I'm sitting on 20 pounds of feathers.

I see Maddie walking to me. Oh shit. What did I do? Should I walk away? Is Dakota going to get mad that she's over here? She's single Ben but, damn he's controlling.

"Ben, thank you for yesterday."

Whenever I think of 'yesterday' I think of what her mother said to me. Shit.

"Oh yeah no problem. I should probably leave you alone."
"Why?" She asks.
"Well.....your mom.."
"Oh great. Scaring away more boys?"
"She told me that if she saw me hanging out with you, that it'd be the last time you see me"
"Shit. I got to go Ben. Class starting soon"

Maddie still seems like a mystery to me. I'm not sure what to think of her. One second she's disgusted. The next she asks me why I'm leaving. I don't know much about her either. I feel like there is something deep inside of her other than having a lot of money or whatever. She has emotions, she's not a prissy girl. Dakota made her be for the sake of his ego, but she's not like that. She's definitely a mystery. I need to solve the puzzle.
