Jing He furrowed his brows, dwelling on this idea for a while. This reason couldn't be refuted by sake of comparison because there indeed was nobody who could come even close. And because of his own position as the crown prince of the Nine Heavens, maybe he indeed paid more attention to such a thing.

Come to think of it, it was a bit suspicious that he idolized the supreme sovereign's love story this much and then fell in love with the dragon king of all people, wasn't it? In fact, he had once thought that if he compared himself and Xing, then even though he wasn't able to attract a person like Tian, he had still found a man in a high position. Looking at that thought process, it indeed seemed likely that Tian's identity had attracted him to this story.

Jing He felt as if he might have already found the answer to Tian's question but he didn't go to tell him immediately. Even though Tian had not told him much, he knew that after presenting his answer, the next task should be to figure out how his reason for liking this story related to his shattered soul. Rather than bothering Tian several times, it would be much better if he thought about this a little longer and found that answer as well.

He got up with An Xin still in his arms and moved to the door leading to the garden, opening it to look outside. Standing in the doorway, he was reminded of how Qiu Ling usually used this door to enter his palace, completely ignoring the main entrance where the guards were stationed. As a result, his father had put additional guards here several times but now, the whole palace and its surroundings were empty save for him.

Well, of course, this was due to the fact that this here wasn't his actual palace but simply a replica in the High Heavens. It was just ... with how even the smallest detail was the same, he actually couldn't tell the difference. Standing here, he felt like he was still in the Nine Heavens, and soon, Qiu Ling would jump down from the roof and sweep him off his feet, holding him tightly as he mentioned how much he had missed him.

Jing He sighed, feeling that it was a pity that this had to remain a figment of his imagination and couldn't actually happen. He would have given a lot to lie in his fiance's arms right now.

Once again, he couldn't help but wonder what Qiu Ling might be doing right now. Maybe he was still spending time with his parents? Ah, but it was already very late so he should have retired to his own room by now.

Even if not, thinking of the time when he had seen Qiu Ling act in his capacity as the dragon king during his trial, he felt that Qiu Ling would likely be busy with his duties. There shouldn't be much leisure time to spend with his mother or father. Rather than that, he might be discussing important matters with his advisers and revising documents or whatever else urgently needed his attention.

Jing He leaned against the frame of the door and sighed. Oh, Qiu Ling really did not have it easy. Being king of the dragon race wasn't an empty title like being crown prince of the Nine Heavens. He had a lot of responsibilities that required him to pay attention to all those different things every day.

It sometimes made him wonder how Qiu Ling had ever managed to spend so much time with him. In a sense, Qiu Ling should have it easier now that he didn't need to split his focus between his duty and his private life. Considering this, maybe he was already back in his room, preparing to go to bed or even sleeping already to ensure that he would be in his best state tomorrow as well.

Jing He raised his gaze to the stars, once again wishing that he could be with him. He really wanted to be held in his arms and tell him all about what had been happening and how scared he felt with all these changes. Even if that wasn't possible, he'd at least like to see him. That alone could probably help him regain his inner peace.

He quietly stared at the sky that darkened further and further and finally, he faintly tilted his head. The motion of petting An Xin slowed. After a few moments, his hand remained still on the mythical beast's pet.

Actually ... he was a fallen god now. Despite all the downsides, legend had it that this meant that he had broken through the barriers of what was possible for a trueborn god. His magical ability should be higher so ... it wouldn't be impossible to find out, right?

Jing He stared ahead, his expression showing a hint of the nervousness that suddenly gripped his heart again. He didn't feel comfortable thinking of what he might be capable of as a fallen god but ... he really wanted to see him. Yes, everything in his body was screaming for him to just do it and his shattered soul seemed to ache the longer he didn't even try.

He took a deep breath and finally raised a hand. His fingers trembled and he didn't actually mobilize his magic for a long time. Then, he finally waved his hand and a water mirror appeared in the air before him, the clear surface rippling in the evening breeze.

Jing He gulped but since he had already done this much, he couldn't help but take the last step as well. He wasn't as proficient at this as Tian but when he focused all of his thoughts on what he wanted to see and then waved his hand ... his reflection that had originally been shown was replaced by the image of a certain room in the Heavenly Emperor's palace in the Nine Heavens.
