EXT. PRIMAL EARTH DESERT - DAWN
The burning sands flow, heat distorting the view. THE FALLEN rises heavily, tired. Sand drips like water. Wind blows.
OPTIMUS PRIME (V.O.)
Earth, birthplace of the human race...
THE FALLEN looks around, the desert agonizes in the aftermath of a battle. He is heavily wounded, the wind reveals some panels of molten metal under the sand.
OPTIMUS PRIME (V.O.)
... a species much like our own...
Limping and relying on his scepter, THE FALLEN starts walking up a sand dune.
OPTIMUS PRIME (V.O.)
... capable of great compassion, and great violence...
THE FALLEN reaches the top of the sand dune, a ruined landscape reveals itself, smoke rising, scrap and molten metal fill the scene, the pyramidal structure of a broken contraption is all that remains.
OPTIMUS PRIME (V.O.)
... and in our quest to protect them a revelation dawns...our paths have crossed before.
The wind blows, sand clashes against THE FALLEN, he is somber, looking around, trying to find something among the ruins. In the center of the pyramid a chamber stands empty. He falls to the ground, exhausted, angry, tired, gazing at the horizon, his eyes lost in thought.
FADE TO BLACK - Title
EXT. C-5M CARGO BAY. SHANGHAI - NIGHT
OPTIMUS PRIME sits at the end of the opened lift of the plane. Overlooking the docks in northeast Shanghai. A calm starry night is obscured by wisps of clouds, high altitude wind blows. A radio is heard.
LENNNOX (V.O.)
OK Optimus, the girls managed to startle the big guy, he's heading your way. You have... say, seven to ten minutes before this makes it to breaking news.
OPTIMUS PRIME
Autobots, everyone ready?
ELITA
Moving in parallel!
The sound of several cargo containers being thrown around is heard on the radio, Optimus glances below to find the location. It's northeast down below of his position.
CHROMIA
Too close!! I told you!
ELITA
Keep moving! - pauses- We are fine Optimus! Sideswipe?!
SIDESWIPE (O.S.)
Got the other one, Sideways!
ARCEE
Well, that's not ...good!
SIDESWIPE (O.S.)
Ohh, no worries.
SIDESWIPE accelerates and jumps from a bridge to a street below, where SIDEWAYS is escaping, SIDESWIPE attacks but is evaded. The two transform to robot mode and stare at each other.
SIDESWIPE (CONT'D)
I'm already on it boss.
EXT. ELEVATED HIGHWAY - SAME TIME.
Atop an elevated highway, IRONHIDE stands, keeping watch over the operation, a big moving Transformer closes the distance, the Constructicon Decepticon: DEMOLISHOR.
IRONHIDE
Keep moving him to the left!, Optimus, how long now?
EXT. CONTAINERS DOCK - SAME TIME.
Optimus scans the area below him, the TWINS SKIDS and MUDFLAP light up a signal flare and start waving their hands at him.
MUDFLAP
He can see us right?
