______________________________The night had turned into dawn, and Shazil was standing at the threshold of his family home. The air was charged with tension as his heart was heavy with the weight of unknown feelings. Previous night he had made up his mind, to face the consequences and now he was here to make amends.
He took a deep breath and rang the doorbell and in no time the door swung open, revealing his father with a stern expression. There was no need for word, the disappointment in his father's eyes spoke volumes.
Shazil's voice was tinged with humility as he spoke, "Abbu, I know I've caused you pain and disappointment. But I'm here to make things right."
His father's gaze softened, but he remained silent keeping his face stoic, allowing Shazil to enter. For a first time in his life, he saw his son in so disheveled state, messy hairs, red eyes, gloomy face, and depressed body.
His father's response was filled with a mix of anger, hurt, and a glimmer of hope. "You've caused a lot of pain, Shazil, not just to me but to the entire family."
Shazil nodded, "I do, Abbu. And I'm ready to accept whatever punishment you see fit."
The conversation continued, and as they spoke, Shazil's father began to see the sincerity in his son's eyes. Ayesha Dadi, who had been listening from a distance, intervened. Her voice was filled with wisdom and compassion.
"Sometimes, we make mistakes, and it takes courage to admit them," Ayesha Dadi said. "Shazil, if you're truly committed to making amends, you'll find a way to heal the wounds you've caused."
Shazil nodded, his voice tinged with determination. "I want to make things right, not just with my family but with Maria as well. She's been hurt because of me, and I can't bear to see her suffer."
Ayesha Dadi smiled gently, "Redemption is a journey, Shazil. It won't be easy, but with the right intentions and actions, you can rebuild what you've broken."
Ayesha Dadi and Shazil sat together. The old lady's frail health was evident, but her eyes held a depth of wisdom and love for her family. She reached out to Shazil, her voice filled with tenderness.
"Shazil, my dear, I've watched you grow into a fine young man," she began, her hand resting on his. "I know you never intended for any of this to happen."
Shazil sighed, his gaze heavy with regret. "Dadi, I can't express how sorry I am for the pain I've caused."
Ayesha Dadi's eyes twinkled with affection. "Life has a way of surprising us, my dear. What matters is how we navigate these surprises."
Shazil looked at her, uncertainty in his eyes. "Dadi, I have decided to divorce Maria. Is this the right path for Maria and me?"
Ayesha Dadi patted his hand gently. "That decision, my boy, is not yours to make alone. It involves Maria and both your families."
Shazil nodded, his resolve firm. "I'll leave it to Maria and the families. I won't let my actions dictate her future."
Ayesha Dadi smiled, her love for Shazil evident. "You have a good heart, Shazil. I hope you find a way to make amends and find happiness."
As Shazil left Ayesha Dadi's room, his steps were heavy with the weight of his decisions. He made his way through the mansion, deep in thought, and suddenly, as he ascended the staircase, he spotted Maria. Her eyes met his, and the look she carried was a mix of emotions, including sympathy, care, frustration, and a hint of hope.
