Promise Ring

Prologue

"I'm not happy." 

It's the day right before our anniversary. Those three words just completely broke my heart. But what's new? We've been here before. He's leaving again, I can already see it coming.

"But you told me that when you're with me, all you feel is pure happiness.." I struggled to get the words out my mouth. Hindi ako makapaniwalang aalis uli siya. Pagkatapos ng lahat ng pinagdaan namin, sasabihin niya na lang na hindi siya masaya saakin?

"I'm just not happy anymore.." At tuluyan nang gumuho ang mundo ko. He's leaving. And there's no stopping him.

"Sorry Kath. Pero hindi ko na talaga kaya. I can't handle you anymore."

Akala ko masaya siya sa piling ko. "Do you still want your gift?" I don't know where I planned to go with that question, but whatever it takes to keep the conversation going. 

"Hindi. Ipamigay mo nalang sa iba." "Pero binili ko 'to especially para lang sa'yo!" Di ko na napigilan ang sariling maluha. Why is he being so cold towards me?

"You always do this Daniel. Lagi ka nalang umaalis pag nahihirapan ka sa relationship natin!"

"Hindi ako nahihirapan. Nakakafrustrate nalang ang makasama ka."

"All you ever do is leave and come back. It's a never ending cycle."

"I'm not coming back." And with that, tuluyan nang sumakit ang puso ko.

"Wow that hurt. But I guess kinailangan kong marinig yun." 

With no hesitation, tinalikuran niya nalang ako at umalis. Just like that iniwan niya na lang ako. Pero hindi ako susuko ng ganun ganun lang. I still have one thing left.

As soon as I got home, I took his gift out from it's hiding place which is under my bed.

A promise ring. I need to write something. Just something to keep him from leaving.

Promise ring.

A promise to always love you. A promise to never leave your side at your worst. A promise to always support you on your best. A promise that won't be broken unless you want me to. No matter what I will be here. Through the problems and the pain, I will be here.  

I folded the piece of paper up and put it into the little bag that came with the ring when I bought it. Totoo naman yung sinulat ko eh. Hindi ko siya iiwan. Mahal ko siya eh. Tanga na kung tanga. I meant it when I told him that I'll always be here.
