Can't expect anyone to know how it feels,

Gotta smile, smile, smile, like made of steel.

Make them feel better, no matter the cost,

Even if it means you're forever lost.

Understanding when they cry, that's the way,

Caring when they hurt, it's your role to play.

Your arms are broken, your eyes are shut tight,

You're bleeding, but you must keep up the fight.

Can't be tired, you're just kidding, they say,

Pretending, it's all just a game you portray.

You dance with pretend bliss in the fire's bright glare,

Burn into ash, but for them, you don't care.

Twist and turns, you shatter, but they never bend,

You're the puppet, a show that will never end.

Punching bag one moment, their teddy when they cry,

Keep pushing, even if it's yourself you deny.

It breaks you, but no one will ever do it for you,

Pave your desire, or play the role they construe.

You have to choose, to lie in the darkness and wail,

Or stand in the spotlight, scream, and set sail.

"No more a puppet for you to control,

No strings attached, I'm taking my toll.

Dare not fiddle with me; it's my time to be free,

I'll shout my thoughts away, just you wait and see."

No one will pick up that mic and fight,

It's you who must stand up and make things right.

Pull the trigger, or stay trapped in this mess forever,

Be the puppet or the master of your endeavour.
