Dazai listlessly tapped his fingers on his wooden desk. Sighing, Dazai was in the middle of a staring contest with his precious laptop–a blank Google Docs document was opened, except for a bullshitted title, and Canvas was on another tab.
Dazai loathed his six professors with a burning passion. Just because he was an English major didn't mean that all his classes had to assign an ungodly amount of homework. Dazai started his torture of homework early morning. He was groggy from waking up too early but if he didn't, then he would be stuck doing uni work for the entire night and he couldn't have that.
It was Halloween, for God's sake! Dazai wanted to go out to one of the many parties he had been invited to.
Uni had been getting to Dazai as of recent. The workload was too much for Dazai to handle that he couldn't wallow in self-pity, let alone do anything fun. Uni had been tormenting Dazai's mental health and all the hard work that he had done to get better crumbled within an instant.
"Hey," Fyodor, his dorm roommate, said as he walked inside. "Still doing that essay of yours?"
"No," Dazai grumbled. "This is a new essay."
Chuckling, Fyodor placed his messenger bag on his neatly made bed, "Ahh I see." Fyodor grimaced at Dazai's side of the room. Clothes were scattered on the floor, wrappers were on the nightstand, and Dazai's blankets were thrown into a mess at the end of the bed. Fyodor couldn't help but feel disappointed, he had worked so hard to make Dazai become a decent human being. Now, all of it was thrown away because Dazai was overloading in the emotional department. "What happened? You were completing your work within the first hour it had been assigned just last week."
Dazai waved Fyodor off. He could see the Russian was disappointed in him for not meeting up to his standards. He never really understood why Fyodor was so obsessed with him getting better. From where Dazai stood, no amount of molding could ever fix him.
"Uni is a bitch, that's what happened," Dazai sighed. He leaned back into his chair, his back arching over so he could see the world upside down. "Anywho, are you doing anything fun for Halloween?"
"I am," Fyodor pulled out his expensive laptop and placed it on his desk, "It's my favorite time of year so I was going to celebrate with a movie and popcorn."
"Ooo! Sounds fun! Can I join you?"
Hearing Fyodor's plans had piqued Dazai's interest. Not only because it gave him an excuse to procrastinate but it gave Dazai an excuse to understand his own emotions better.
Fyodor raised his eyebrows, "Don't you have work to do?"
"Yes," Dazai smiled despite the blood rushing up to his head, causing his vision to spin, "what about it?"
Shaking his head, Fyodor sighed and said: "Aren't you going to a Halloween party tonight? I'm sure you were given more invitations than you can attend."
"Hmm," Dazai sat up, turning to face Fyodor, "how did you know that?"
"Why wouldn't I know that? You're the most popular person at this college."
