After the exam, Serena vanished. Well, she was only gone for a few days, it raised concern among many of the students. For the first time in a long time, the school was on patrol. Keeping an eye out for any clues of where Serena could've been.
Rumors have it that she ran into the forbidden forest, late at night on the day of the exam, and was never seen again.
On a night pass their curfew, Serena's roommates snuck into the forest and went to try and find her.
Aubree, Claudia, and Lizzie stuck together in a huddle as they navigated the forest with a lantern that was bright enough to give a good view for each girl.
"Why would she run off like this?" Aubree worried.
"Who knows? Maybe the pressure of the academy got to her. Let's hope that we can find her before it's too late." Claudia responded.
Lizzie was too scared to speak as she interlocked her arm with Claudia. For her, she had an immense fear of the dark and also getting in trouble.
"What if somebody catches us here? It's past our curfew!"
"This is something that is worth getting in trouble for. We can't let Serena be gone forever." Claudia said.
"But, why would she come to the forbidden forest? She barely knows what this world is like." Aubree wondered.
"We can only assume so much. For now, let's put all of our energy into looking for her." Claudia dismissed the other girls.
Aubree and Lizzie silently agreed, and kept their heads down while Claudia led the way.
The Forbidden Forest was full of many tragedies and tales. From eating a forbidden fruit to doing forbidden deeds by the gods, most who enter, will not be able to get out due to the temptation of sin.
Apples dangled on some of the trees, while snakes, surrounded them, hissing their tongues and waiting for their next victim to take a bite.
All three girls huddled together for safety and security, with Claudia putting up a front to make herself seem like she's not afraid at all when in reality she is far from having a calm demeanor.
In the midst of the way laid quite an unfamiliar site. There was a person with a hood and a lantern going the same way that they were going. Lizzie called out to the figure.
"Excuse me...." Then, realizing that she could've gotten herself into a sticky situation.
The figure turned around to reveal himself as Nikolai.
"Nikolai Reve? What are you doing here?" Claudia asked.
"I'm looking for Serena as well." He said.
"Are you the one that's her soulmate?" Lizzie asked with gleaming eyes.
Nikolai hesitated.
"No. I'm helping Syzmon out. Because, you know..."
He had to think fast about why Syzmon wasn't looking. Truth be told, he didn't know Syzmon too much.
"He's always in bed by 9 and has paranoia when night falls. You know how he is."
Please be the truth.
"Oh, you're right! He's such a scaredy cat!" Claudia realized.
"And besides, he's been searching all day. Naturally, he's probably sleeping." Aubree added.
