For the first time in a 1000 years, dark magic had infiltrated the once peaceful grounds of the academy, and chaos was among the entire student body.
"ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS, DUE TO THE UNPREDICTED INVASION OF DARK MAGIC, ALL STUDENTS MUST BE MINDFUL AT ALL TIMES! TRUST ONLY THOSE WHO YOU KNOW ARE SAFE! OUR STAFF IS NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP THIS UNEXPECTION SITUATION UNDER CONTROL, AND DUE TO AN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION, WE WILL GIVE OUR STUDENTS 2 CHOICES: YOU CAN EITHER STAY IN YOUR DORM WHICH WILL BE PROTECTED OR HELP THE STAFF FIGHT THE DARK MAGIC, IF YOU CHOOSE TO FIGHT THE DARK... THEN BE WARNED. YOU MAY NOT MAKE IT OUT ALIVE!!!!"
Claudia, Lizzie, and Aubree were in their bedroom, all of the blinds shut and the door was locked. In fear, they all huddled together.
"I wish Serena was here." Lizzie cried.
"I don't know why she wouldn't stay here. It's safer for her." Claudia worried.
"Guys, Serena is part of the key to stop the invasion of dark magic. That boy she was with was not her true soulmate. Did you see the look on her face?" Aubree said.
Lizzie and Claudia remained silent.
"It was a trap. Serena and her true soulmate are in danger. However, they can't hide like us. They must fight. We can only prepare for the worst and hope for the best." Aubree brought them together and they started to pray for Serena and Nikolai's safety.
Serena and Nikolai have been on an adventure travelling through various realms to reach the hiding place where Dominik and Subhana resided. From folk and fairy tales to planets that seemed to be inhabitable by the human species, they never spent one day in a single place. Instead, they would search for the portal to teleport them to the next land.
Dominik and Subhana kept an eye on them at first.
"They'll be portal hopping forever. By the time they reach us, the academy will be in shambles." Subhana laughed afterwards.
"It seems that the academy faces danger head on. So many students volunteered to engage in a battle that they are doomed to fail."
Subhana turned off the magical ball and held up her glass while she and Dominik took in the view of a stormy sky, the clouds black and the dark realm barren with nature.
"One's person's loss is another's gain now, isn't it?" Subhana raised her glass.
"Indeed. Such a shame for her."
"Boo hoo." Subhana said sarcastically. "We are now in the favor of the empire. Let us raise a toast to our mission becoming fruitful."
They clicked their glasses and stared out into the view.
Behind them, Serena and Nikolai appeared with a cloud of smoke. Their bodies had a slight shine of them and they were in the view of Subhana and Dominik.
Subhana was the first to feel an odd presence before she turned around.
"What are you both doing here?"
"Getting back what you stole from us." Serena said.
Dominik turned around and went to protect the Orb of the Academy, which floated in the air.
"You sent dark magic into a world where peace was kept, but we must restore the peace." Nikolai said.
"Oh, we won't let you win that easily. You're have to earn this."
Subhana snatched the orb and magically tranferred the orb to a stand where it levitated in place.
When they were ready, Nikolai and Serena's wings came out and they struck against Dominik and Subhana, who mimiced their movements. Preparing to engage in a magic battle that no level of academy could have prepared you for. It was a 2 vs 2 battle and the battle ground was above the floor, high up.
Dominik and Nikolai were in a fierce magical battle and Subhana kept Serena busy. Their magical spells caused some aftereffects, such as drowsiness and paralysis.
Dominik suddenly got Nikolai off guard and when he cast a spell, Serena's back was turned.
"SERENA!" Nikolai screamed.
But it was too late. The spell hit Serena's angel wings and the feathers flew all around. Dominik caught Serena and she was in his arms. As the feathers fell around them, Dominik's embrace started to burn through Serena's dress.
"It burns..." Serena could barely muster.
Subhana trapped Nikolai in a twist of golden veins, watching Dominik and Serena. When Dominik smirked at Nikolai, he let Serena fall to the ground and she fell lifelessly. Nikolai used his pointer and middle finger to send little clouds to Serena, sacrifing part of his power to save her.
"I hope this helps." He whispered.
His anger soon got too hard to contain and he broke through the chains, lunging at Dominik. It was now a 2 vs 1 match, but Nikolai was attacking Dominik while defending himself from Subhana.
Serena rode down on a cloud and woke up, when she looked up at the sky she felt a fear run through her body. Slowly, she got up and embraced her new wings, ones that were made of white fluffy clouds. When she was prepared, she jumped back into fighting and went for Subhana. Nikolai saw her and was amazed.
"It worked! That's my girl."
Serena did some damage on Subhana before she new what she had to do, she had to retrieve the orb. She flew and once she was close enough, she inched toward it, taking in the power that it held.
"Oh no, you're not!" Subhana recovered and when Serena got the orb, Serena backflipped through the sky, causing Subhana to crash into the stand.
"Nikolai!" Serena screamed and saw that Nikolai was started to get too beat up. She flew with the orb and grabbed Nikolai, who stunned Dominik.
They both went to the floor and Serena let the orb float in the sky. Nikolai and Serena connected their hands and raised them up to the sky. Black and white light came from their union, intertwining and fusing with the orb.
When Dominik and Serena saw, they knew it was over.
"No... it can't be." They both said.
Serena's and Nikolai's clothes fused now ressembled the ones of Grozine's royal attire and with a look at the other, they shined the combination of their light, symboling their love.
Dominik and Subhana fired another kind of ray, connecting their gold and silver to make bronze. With the power of Serena and Nikolai, they were overpowered.
A blinding light struck.
Serena opened her eyes and saw glitter all in her vision with a few feathers and a room that was now white instead of red and grey like it was before.
"We did it. They're dead. Nikolai?"
She realized that Nikolai wasn't by her side. Cautiously, she turned her head around.
"Nikolai?"
And she turned her head all the way back, she saw a horrifying site. Nikolai was on the ground with a trail of blood due to the recoil.
"NIKOLAI!"
She ran to him and stumbled on her heel. Quickly getting herself back up, she went to the side and cradled him.
"Nikolai." Her eyes started to cry. "Nikolai. No. Please be alive."
She cried while she was holding him, praying that this was just a bad dream.
