A new year dawned upon the campus.

Dark magic has once again been vanquised from the land and peace was now being restored.

To celebrate the efforts of everybody, a new years ball was to be held in a smaller but lovlier hall where everybody could be themselves. 

Nikolai and Serena were about to walk inside the hall when they paused at the door. 

"Are you ready?" Nikolai asked

"More than I'll ever be." Serena beamed at him.

He chuckled softly. "Me too. I've been ready since the moment that I met you."

Their hands intertwined and they walked in together. Serena bore a gown that shined silver with sleeves that hung off her shoulder while Nikolai had a darker shade of grey suit on to showcase how their love impacted each other. Serena's white turned into silver to signify the realistic nature of the world while Nikolai's black turned into gray with Serena lighting his passion for life. 

Many heads turned when they walked into the room together, but neither now minded the attention. Together, Nikolai and Serena were confident: confident in each other and their love was an even greater proof.

Claudia, Lizzie, and Aubree ran up to Serena. 

"Serena! You look amazing! So stunning! Your hair..." Lizzie noticed.

"Yes. My hair. It's not blonde anymore."

"It suits you perfectly!" Claudia said.

"And your partner... is that THE Nikolai Reve?" Aubree wondered.

Nikolai laughed.

"I am her soulmate indeed. Pleasure to truly meet you girls. Although, we met once before."

"Right. Yes! I remember now! You didn't want us to get in trouble by the academy." Claudia remembered.

"I always knew you two were soulmates. I heard you both talking one night. Didn;t you used to play guitar on our balcony too?" Aubree said.

"Yeah, Serena sleeps through a lot. Hey hey. If you are wondering what happened to her, I kept her safe. I kept her fed, hydrated, and taken care of. Did I break some rules? Yes. Was it worth it? Double yes."

All of the girls swooned, even Serena.

"Serena! You got lucky. He does treat you like a charm!" Lizzie playfully told Serena.

"He is one of a kind, one in a trillion. I'm eternally joyful that he's my soulmate. You only get one in this world, but he makes me feel so wonderful!" Serena said bashfully.

They all giggled.

"We'll let you lovebirds be all lovey dovey. If you need us, we'll be with our soulmates dancing on the floor or just socializing with everybody else." Claudia said to Nikolai and Serena.

"Toodles! Don't have too more fun!" Lizzie waved.

"Lizzie....." Aubree sighed before all three girls left to mingle in with the crowd. 

Nikolai and Serena watched them go.

"Such strange roommates. They all balance each other out in their own way."

"It's our way of showing sisterly love. At the end of the day, we have each others back."

"Those are the kinds of friendships that you keep for the rest of your days."

"One thing for sure: everybody here always has each other no matter what."

A song started to gravitate couples to the dancefloor with a mysterious melody. Serena and Nikolai heard this song and Nikolai extended his hand out.

"Shall we share this dance?"

Serena took his hand and showed him a heartwarming smile.

"You already know the answer."

Their bodies danced with the music as many other couples were. In this dancefloor, Nikolai and Serena were in their own little world. All eyes could be on them in this moment, and yet they wouldn't pay no mind to anybody but the other.

"Serena, I've been meaning to confess something to you suddenly."

"What is it, Nikolai?"

"There was a reason why I had acted so cold and aloof to you. When I had found out that we were paired to be soulmates, I doubted myself. Why was I, a boy with no idea on who I am and where I'm truly from, be with a girl as beautiful, innocent, kind, and warm hearted just like you? When I saw you for the first time, I knew. I knew you would be the one that changes everything. Truthfully, I was scared to approach you when I had to give you your blue roses, so I left them at your door without a name. But I knew that I had to approach you in some way, so I acted at first like this withdrawn and standoffish character who was meant to scare you away. That's not me. The more time I spent with you, the more that I grew to cherish you. You're the most important person to me, and you taught me that I need people to flourish. My life has been full of vigor since we met and while we had our times where we struggled, we built each other up from them. Serena, I've been dying to tell you this but I was afraid. I love you. I mean it."

"Nikolai...."

"I know that I wasn't the man that you thought of in your dreams..."

"Nikolai. You're starting to get ahead of yourself. I love you too! I know that I put you through a lot..."

"No Serena, you saved my life. You saved me in more ways than one. I couldn't be any more thanful than that."

"Yes. I love you too Nikolai, I loved you from the moment we first met. I loved you even when it seemed like I didn't, I love you even if it seemed like we lusted for each other, I love you too Nikolai. I want to see all of the world and what it has to offer with you."

"To finally say those words off my tounge feels so freeing."

"And this weight on my chest is gone as well ."

Serena and Nikolai's lips came together once more and ended in a passionate kiss that brought both of their bodies and soul back to life. It was them now, this was their story, their world. 

Another song started to play and they danced along to the melody.

"You're the shining bright light that I haven't seen before, the missing puzzle piece and everything I'm looking for. Always lighting up my day with a smile I aodre. A star up in the night glistening forevermore."

Nikolai and Serena were now alone, the backdrop of their world now faded into a land of sparkles of dreams, in each other warm embrace they stared at each other with true love.

"I vow to make both of us live a life of eternal bliss and to take you on journey that you will never forget." Nikolai vowed.

"I like the sound of that. And I promise to be by your side throughtout every sunny day and stormy night."

They shared one kiss that sealed their fate and their love.
