Marty and Lefty

Early Lives

First, Marty went to a theater to see Gene Autry, and when he got home, his parents had arguments, and John, Marty's father, divorced Marty's mother Emma. Marty was upset because there were no more movies for him. Lefty had sucker punched a bully in school and the boy yelled, "You Lefty devil," and Lefty was suspended from school. AD, Lefty's mom said, "No more Jimmie Rodgers for you."

In 1943, Marty went into the Navy after he dropped out of school, and three years later, he met Marizona Baldwin. In 1942, Lefty's parents AD and Naamon were upset because Naamon did not divorce AD, because he needed to be in the military. His brothers Billy Edgar and Lesley, and sisters Betty Jo, Johnnie Lee and Ola Mae take care of baby David. Lefty eventually quits school, and Naamon slaps him in the face.

Lefty met Alice Harper. In 1945, Lefty and Alice were married, and 11 months later, they had a daughter Lois Aleta. In September 1947, Lefty performs an Ernest Tubb song, and a girl at 14 saw him, and he had sex with her, but the judge confirms six months in jail for statutory rape in Chavez County, New Mexico. Alice was trying to see him, but it's too late.

In jail, Lefty told the man about the paper and pen to write a poem for Alice. Six months later, in 1948, Lefty was released in jail, and Marty and Marizona were married a few months later.

In 1949, Marty and Marizona welcomed their son Ronny. Lefty was frustrated to sing a song, and he told Alice that the poem turns into a song called "I Love You a Thousand Ways."
