I drop my book bag on the dining room table. Finally the weekend. I thought, relieved. I dropped myself on the couch. Taking out my phone, I began to feel as if I couldn't keep my eyes open, my head feeling like a bowling ball. A small nap wouldn't hurt, I'll be up before dinner. My head slammed against the pillow, darkness taking over my sight as my eyes closed.
My phone dropped to the ground waking me up. I sit up quickly, startled. Slowly stretching I look around, it had been darker than before. That means that I didn't sleep too long. Surely it's around 7 it can't be too late. Thats what I thought. Leaning forward picking my phone up from the ground, I saw a little crack in the screen protector. I sighed, rubbing the puncture on the phone. That's when my phone turned on and I realized the time. "Holy shit!" I shouted, quickly covering my mouth. It's 6 am!? I slept through the whole night! My brain had to process what was happening. Why hadn't my parents woken me up?
My stomach growled, it felt as if an earthquake was occurring. I rolled off the couch, dropping my feet to the floor. I stumbled into the kitchen, looking around for food. Mom didn't go to the store yet.. I placed my hand on my stomach, letting out a sigh. I strolled into the dining room to grab money from my dad's wallet. It wasn't there. I questioned where my parents were as my mom's pocketbook wasn't there either. I walked up the stairs to my brother's room, he had still been sleeping. I sneak in trying not to let the floors creek. How old is this house? Or were the floors just done poorly. I dug through his wallet grabbing a twenty dollar bill from it.
Slipping my shoes onto my feet, I grabbed the keys and stumbled my way out of the house. I slipped my hair into a messy bun so it hadn't looked as if I just woke up. What should I eat?.. Bagel? Maybe I should get something from Rite Aid? Wondering around the shops outside my house I saw a museum across the street. I should try going there. That's when my stomach alerted me again. I strolled into the bagel store.
"Good morning" I mumbled.
The employee nodded her head, "What would you like?" She smiled, it was definitely forced.
"May I have an everything with plain cream cheese?"
I walked over to the checkout as she began making my bagel. Letting go of my money in the counter the manager walked up to the counter and took my money. "Receipt?" He mumbled. I nodded knowing he did not want to be here.
I grabbed my bagel and stumbled out of the store, wrapping my arms around me. Why is it so cold. I shook myself out, taking out my bun for warmth of my thick hair.
After breakfast I had nothing much to do, accept wonder where my parents were. I roamed the house with no sight of them. I went upstairs to ask my brother if he knew. Of course, still in his bed, snoozing and snoring. I tapped his shoulder, shook him, smacked him. Nothing. I swear he will sleep through anything. I couldn't imagine what it would be like if he moved into his own house. I slammed his door, and finally he woke up. " LUZY! " He shouted. That's his little nickname for me, I don't know what to think about it. I trotted back into his room, saying, "Where's mom and dad?" He shrugged. Why did I even ask?
"Text them," I said
"Why can't you?" He argued
"Because I left my phone downstairs and I'm to lazy to get it"
"That's why I call you Luzy, you lazy bum." He sighed unplugging his phone from his nightstand. His finger tapped away. What a long sentence he's typing.. I plopped myself onto his bed, peeking over his shoulder. His phone was off.
"Text them you idiot!" I shouted.
"Why are you screaming in my ear?" He finally turned his phone on and started texting the family group chat. Right away they answered "At a friend's house." We were always left alone it wasn't a surprise.
For the rest of the day I hid under the covers. My brother played on his PlayStation, screaming at his friends. It was going to end up being a usual weekend. At least that's what I thought.
