Once inside I quickly dump my bookbag into my locker and grab anything I need for my classes. I quickly said goodbye to Celeste before going to my English class. When I reached the class most of the students were already in their seats and talking with each other. Mr. Cedar is sitting at his desk reading a book and waiting for the rest of the stragglers to enter before starting his lesson. I make my way towards the back of the class and grab the seat behind Dylan. "Hey, long time no see," Dylan says turning in his seat to face me.

I smile, "Yeah, it's been a whole five minutes since we last saw each other. Whatever will we do when we are apart for much longer?"

Dylan throws his head back and laughs. His body shaking from how hard he is laughing. "You really are something else." He chuckled, his eyes seeming to glow more golden from his excitement. Before I can mention anything about it Mr. Cedar cuts us off to start his lesson. He explains that he is going to start easy on us with some poetry for the next couple of weeks. I smile knowing that for some it won't appear as simple as he makes it. I slowly start to drown out what he is saying and begin to draw in my notebook to pass the time.

Suddenly my skin begins to crawl and a small shiver runs down my spine. It feels like someone is watching me and I don't like it. I look up from my desk and glance around the room to see if I spot anyone looking my way but come up empty-handed. I look to my left out the window and my breath catches in my throat. In the shady treeline across the soccer field, I notice a red glow. I soon realize that it isn't one thing glowing but two and they appear to be eyes. The woods are too dark for me to get a good look but all I can see are those eyes and I feel stuck. It's like my body is rooted and won't let me look away.

BRING... The bell blares jolting me in my seat and allowing my eyes to leave the window. The students in the class gather their belongings and start to exit the room. I get up from my chair and grab my stuff before glancing once more out the window but the eyes are nowhere to be seen. I let out a sigh of relief before finally making my exit. Once I am in the hallway I begin to head toward my next class when a powerful smell hits me and I start to feel nauseous. I dash to the nearest bathroom before hurling into one of the bathroom stalls. I nearly miss the toilet but I don't seem to care. I sit on the ground hoping that the sick feeling will go away and I can head to class.

I take a deep breath in and scrunch up my face in disgust at the overwhelming scent of perfume. Gosh did someone try and drown themselves in it because I feel like I am? I soon puke again and try to get my bearings. I rest my head on the wall of the stall and try to take another deep breath but the scent is still very prevalent. Over time I become more accustomed to the overpowering scent and no longer feel sick. I get up off the bathroom floor and leave the stall to go wash my hands and ensure there isn't any vomit on my face. When I look in the bathroom mirror I am startled to find my eyes glowing gold again.

I rub my eyes in hopes of wiping the color away but it doesn't go away. The color dims but remains a golden hue. "What is going on with me?" I cry out to myself in frustration. Taking one last look in the mirror I turn away and collect my scattered belongings off the floor before heading out of the bathroom and going to class. Slowly the day drags on and I am graced with the company of my best friend for our final class of the day. I grab Celeste's arm and drag her into the girls' locker room before she can utter a word.

"What is wrong Atlas?" She asks while shaking out her arm. I face her and her eyes go wide with shock. "Your eyes! Is this what they looked like last night?"

I drop onto a bench, covering my face with my hands, and nod. "I don't know why they are like this but it is really stressing me out. So can we please not talk about it right now and just get changed for class?" I begged turning to my gym bag to retrieve my clothes. Celeste drops down next to me and gives me a comforting hug before grabbing her own clothes and changing. I didn't realize how badly I needed her hug until after she let go.

A comforting silence hangs between us as we exit the locker room to join the rest of the class for the game of dodgeball that Coach Alex suggested we play. We quickly get split into teams before setting up the balls in the middle of the gym floor for us to run up and grab when the game starts. After taking my place along the left wall of the gym with my other teammates I catch Celeste's eye from the opposite side. I give her a small smile before the whistle is blown and the game begins.

We play round after round and I start to feel myself become less stressed from the amount of energy I am releasing. We are about to start our final round when I hear two girls whispering to each other on the opposite side of the gym. "I can't believe Coach Alex just let her join the team after our soccer game yesterday." One of them whispered. "I know! The girl isn't even that good. Besides she is a total weirdo, like I don't understand how Celeste is even friends with her." The other replies glancing over towards Celeste who is on the far end of their line. "She probably just feels pity for her after her father died."

I immediately see red after I hear those last words. As soon as Coach Alex blows the whistle I bolt for the dodgeballs. I make it to the middle of the gym before anybody else and I grab two. Moving back towards the wall on my side of the gym I search for the two girls who have now fueled my anger. I spot one hiding behind a small group of students in hopes of not getting hit. When I see my opening I launch the ball with all my power and watch it zoom through the air and hit the girl in the stomach with a satisfying thwack. The air is knocked out of her lungs and she is doubled over in pain. Coach tells her she is out and she shuffles off of the court slowly.

I weave and dodge balls that are thrown my way while looking for the second girl. She stands near Celeste with a ball in her hand to try and block any from hitting her. I focus on her and pull back my arm before throwing the other ball I had and it is like time slowed. I watched as the ball made its way across the court and towards the girl. The speed it was going was faster than the last one I threw and the girl doesn't notice it until it is too late. The ball smacks her right in the face and the momentum behind it causes her to lose her balance and crash to the floor.

Coach Alex immediately blows her whistle and stops the game before running over to the girl. Celeste looks at me and then down at the poor girl next to her and her mouth falls open in bewilderment. Coach Alex helps the girl to her feet and I notice that she has a bloody nose and appears to be crying. "You all are dismissed. Go get changed while I take her to see the nurse." She says while walking the girl out of the gym. After they leave everyone's eyes turn to me. I shrink back from the stares and make my way into the locker room to change.

Shortly after Celeste joins me along with the rest of the girls from our class. They are loud and obnoxious but I try and ignore them when I feel a hand on my shoulder. I tense until I realize that it is Celeste. She gives me a look that tells me we have a lot to talk about after school before she walks away to change. I shake my head and finish changing quickly so I can leave. I walk out of the locker room and lean against the wall while I wait for Celeste to finish up. The girl I hit in the stomach walks out before anyone else and gives me a dirty look before muttering 'freak' under her breath as she walks past me. I snatch her arm stopping her from walking away and give her the nastiest glare I can muster.

"I would suggest you refrain from talking about me when I am in the room. You might not think anyone heard what you and your friend said but believe me, I did. Don't talk about Celeste and especially don't talk about my dad." I snarl at her. The girl's eyes go as big as saucers and her mouth moves open and shut like she wants to say something but doesn't know how. The girl closes her mouth and looks away before nodding that she understands me. I let her go and she scurries away just before Celeste walks out of the locker room so we can head home.
