31 October 1981 is a common date in the eyes of Muggles, but for wizards in the United Kingdom it's a different story, because it was on this evening that the Dark Mage Don't-Shall-Not-Be-Named was defeated while killing the deposed Prince, Maxon Winchester. The latter's daughter had escaped assassination because she was staying with her cousin Harry Potter while her parents celebrated their wedding anniversary. The Black Mage, Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, broke into their cottage by the sea while the wind was blowing like a storm. The two lovebirds were enjoying a delicious meal prepared by Mary Winchester when suddenly a green beam shot through the window and hit Mary. Maxon, furious and upset, rushed towards his wife when a second green ray hit him in turn. But the spell ricocheted off a necklace and also hit the Black Mage, who disappeared in a cloud of smoke, his soul escaping his body and taking refuge in the necklace.
A few hours later, an old wizard with a long beard arrived with a smile on his face, singing It doesn't take much to be happy, and suddenly stopped when he saw the bodies of the Winchesters. He took a moment to realise the horror and saw the Black Mage's wand on the floor. He immediately grabbed it and said the priori incantatum, and saw that He-Whose-Name-Shall-Not-Be-Spoken had killed them and disappeared at the same time. This intrigued him. On his way out, he stepped on the necklace and picked it up. Leaving the cottage, he transplants to Potter Manor in Cornwall. He rang the doorbell and Lily Potter opened the door, thinking it was her sister Mary. Intrigued, Lily asked the old wizard:
-What are you doing here, Dumbledore? You've come to the wrong place.
-You'd better sit down, I've got terrible news," he said desperately.
Lily let him in and James Potter joined them. He offered Dumbledore a glass of whisky but Dumbledore refused. The three of them sat down in the sitting room.
-I have terrible news to tell you: Maxon and Mary have been murdered by Voldemort himself. I've looked round the house and can't find Talia. I think he's taken her.
Lily sobbed in shock:
-Well... no... she... she's... there... in the room... in... in the cradle... a-with Harry...Dumbledore, relieved, began to cry and drank his glass of whisky that James had prepared anyway.
He asked:
-What will become of Talia?
James, leaning on the mantelpiece and looking at Dumbledore in dismay, said:
-'We can keep her and will bring her up as our own daughter.
-Very well," he said.
Dumbledore wiped his tears with his beard and stood up and said:
-Good luck and remember she is King Clarkson's granddaughter. She must be especially protected. I'll give you this necklace, which is an old Winchester family jewel and contains a photo of her parents. I'll leave you to it, I've got some white O.W.L. to prepare.
-Wouldn't you like to see it before you go?" suggested Lily, still in shock.
Dumbledore shook his head.
The three adults went to the nursery and saw the two babies sleeping, holding each other's little fingers. Dumbledore leaned over Talia and whispered:"Good luck, Your Highness. See you in ten years' time on the benches of Hogwarts". He hung the necklace he had found around her.He left and disappeared before the eyes of James and Lily, who went to bed in tears, thinking it was all a dream.
In the nursery, Talia Winchester turned round in the cradle without waking her cousin. Her hand closed over the necklace hanging on her and she continued to sleep, unaware of the fate that lay in store for her and that she was already famous. Nor did she know that the magical world had been turned upside down by the disappearance of her descendant and that the kingdom would remain without a King or Queen until she came of age.
