"Nathaniel, glad you could join me" his shoulders were slumped downwards as he walked into the room. His hands tense as he made sure they were covered fully. Normally he wasn't afraid of homelander, but he'd rather be cautious and keep his gloves on.He smiled slightly as he sat down in the chair across from homelander. The man's cape moving as he walked along the table, he hummed slightly. His fingers trialing along the glass as Nate watched him.
"What's this about Homelander? I thought I wasn't suppose to go out on missions... at least not alone". He winced to himself homelander smacked his hands down onto the table. His eyes glaring into his as he smirked slightly "well, this one is classified".
Nate looked at the file that homelander placed down in front of him. "Classified.... I haven't" he stopped himself as he grabbed the file "I haven't done those type of things in years, it drew too much attention".
Homelander laughed slightly "because you weren't at your true potential back then, but now you're ready. I need your help here Nathaniel, you wouldn't say no to me right? We're pals".
Nate tensed up when Homelanders eyes glowed, the red hue so bright it made Nate look away. "What do I have to do?" homelander smirked as he patted Nate's shoulder. "Atta boy, you're the only one around here, who listens to me, who will get things handled".
Nate looked at the file, he didn't recognize the woman but then again it was likely a nobody. He was being tested, he could tell by the way homelander kept moving around the room.
"So just the one?" Homelander placed three more files on top of the pile "we could only pin point three of the targets, I trust you'll find the fourth on your own"
"But there's five people here, why only four?" he looked at each photo slowly, trying to remember the faces the best he could. "I'll handle the fifth target. I need you to take down the rest, I don't care how, just get it done, the woman is a supe, but I trust you can handle that, if you're smart of course".
Homelander smirked as he walked towards the window "clocks ticking Nathaniel, don't disappoint me, or else I'll have to finally kill you".
Nate let out a heavy breath "I'll try my best", he stood up from the table and smiled weakly before he left.
As he walked along the hallway he stopped at the sight of Annie, she looked distressed as she held tightly onto her phone. He pushed the files he held onto under his armpits slowly, he could practically tell she was tense. Her hands shaking slightly as she tried to type on her phone.
"Phones normally work if you're not holding them upside down" she looked up at him, "so now you're talking to me, what.. did homelander tell you about translucent. About how he was killed".
Nate chuckled "like I care about that dick bag, honestly whoever killed him, I'm glad they did it. He was a creep who was always stalking people. He got what was deserved". Annie sighed deeply "did he tell you who did it? Those people....".
Nate shifted, the files in his armpit slowly melting away as he turned it carefully with the ends of his fingers. "Yeah, and I'm gonna make sure they're caught, because we can't have them going after someone else next. It's just a bunch of people who think they're better then us, but they're not".
Annie scoffed "it's a little bit more difficult for me, this guy I'm seeing, or I don't know... just someone I thought was a friend, turns out he's just using me, he killed translucent.... I just need to understand".
Nate blinked slightly "there's nothing to understand, I'll handle it, that's what I'm good at around here, picking up messes that no one else wants to handle"
