"27-year-old male involved in a trauma, possible hit and run," Maggie announced as the young man was brought into the ED, she signalled for the paramedics to start wheeling him towards one of the bays while Gianna moved to join them.

Brett and Dawson moved quickly through the already busy department making sure that they did not accidently run into anyone as they pulled the ambulance gurney through the doors.

"He was unresponsive in the field," Brett stated glancing down at the man, he had been in the middle of the road when they had arrived and other than the poor woman who had called it in on the way to drop her kids at school when she had found him, he had been alone.

"Sir. Can you hear me?" Gianna asked leaning over the young man and trying to get a response from him, his eyes were unfocused and she had little doubt that they were dealing with a serious head injury.

His baby blue eyes almost vacant as he stared up at the ceiling almost unseeing, the harsh overhead lights doing little to deter him.

"No head deformity, no bleeding. Breathing slightly diminished on the left side but reactive," Dawson told Gianna, the gurney turning into the open bay that Maggie had directed them to when they had arrived in the ED.

They had been unable to get any response from him on the way in nor had they managed to get any information on their current John Doe, he had no ID on him and since he was unresponsive, they had done what they could.

"Sir, is there any pain where I'm touching in your belly?" Gianna asked prodding at his stomach, she frowned seeing no movement not even a flinch from their John Doe.

His stomach was soft and distended meaning that there was trauma there that she would have to deal with, his lack of flinching upon the prodding troubled her.

"Transfer in three, two, one," Gianna ordered moving to shift John Doe from the ambulance gurney and into a hospital one so that they could start treating him; she glanced at the paramedics who quickly moved to get out of the way as the team descended upon him.

"Unequal pupils to the right side. He is unreactive, sluggish. His blood pressure is 134 over 86. Heart rates up 82. Sinuses sp02 98%." Gianna stated while she got to work, she frowned as she begun to check over her patient.

With each passing second while she worked, the frown upon her face grew and she could not believe that he had managed to make it to the hospital; he was in bad shape and she needed to get him up for an MRI scan when she had stabilised him.

"Left side abdominal evisceration, multiple abrasions to the left side of the forehead," Gianna continued moving down his body and she could not even say for sure if he would survive the surgery especially given his poor blood pressure.

The noise of the ED was loud even with everything that was going on, Gianna almost wished that she had a button that could silence it all while she gathered her thoughts and instructed nurses what needed to be done.

The team worked seamlessly around the patient, ensuring that they would be completely stabilised before they rolled them out of the ED and up to where he would be heading next.

"Okay, let's get him up to surgery," Gianna ordered knowing that time was working against them, they could deal with the head injury once they had the abdominal injury under control.

Moving the gurney out of the ED and towards the elevator so that they might head upstairs to the operating theatre, Gianna could not imagine how long this might take but she doubted that it was going to be easy.

The doors to the elevator opened and the team rolled inside, the sounds of the ED fading away as they left it behind and it would be a few hours before Gianna heard such sounds again.
