>>>The Accident

Shit happened at the pier.

Law is positive that his bloodstream is now running at 30 percent blood cells and 70 percent caffeine.

He's been up for more than 24 hours. There has been an accident at the pier. A cruise ship that served as a playground had its engines malfunction and explode. The hospital Law is working at as an ER surgeon is the nearest one, so the critically injured, mostly children and their chaperones, were admitted there.

Law had just finished his last surgery for the day. The guy's body was littered with a mix of glass, metal, and wood shards. Some were superficial and some were deep, but luckily nothing struck any vital organ except his liver and the ones dangerously close to his spine and lungs. But Law was nothing but a talented surgeon; the surgery was tricky but nothing he couldn't handle. The guy will live.

Law prepared himself to talk to the patient's family; he opened the door to the waiting room but was attacked by flashing lights.

"What the fuck!?" That was unprofessional, yes, but who the hell let these bastards inside?

"Security!" Sachi, his assisting surgeon, called to help chase away the intruders.

"Sorry Sensei," one nurse came rushing with the security "Apparently, the patient was a celebrity, and the paparazzi were very cunning."

Ugh, celebrities. Law thought, deliberately chooses a small hospital to avoid these kinds of mess.

When the intruders were fully chased out, what was left in the waiting room were two sniffling kids and a frantic older lady with red and curly hair.

"Sensei... how's Luffy?" the older lady ushered the kids towards him and asked.

"He's not going to die, is he?" the black-haired boy asked wiping the snot on his nose.

Law crouched down to the kid and tapped his shoulders. "Is he your brother?" Law asked, though they may have the same hair color, that alone cannot assure that they are related.

"Yes," the boy confirmed.

"He's my brother too!" the other kid, a blonde one, claimed as well.

"And I'm Dadan, their caretaker," the older lady introduced herself. "I've been taking care of them since Luffy was just a little kid. Their parents are outside the country, but their grandfather is on his way."

Law stood up and glanced at Sachi, who nodded in confirmation that the lady was one of the patient's emergency contacts.

"He's stable now. He was struck with a lot of debris, but luckily, nothing fatal. He will be transferred to the ICU first and will be under observation, but once he wakes up, he will be transferred to a room. We will have to wait for their grandfather to process the papers." Law explained with his rehearsed professional voice.

"Thank you, sensei," Dadan thanked and released a relieved sigh. The kids interpreted it as that their brother was safe and started crying again, but this one was out of relief.

"It's my fault!" the black-haired kid cried. "If I was not distracted by the large robots, I would not leave ni-chan's side."

"Shhh, Ace", the lady comforted the kid. "Luffy's safe now, and it's not your fault the ship exploded."

"Yeah," the blonde kid said, comforting his brother while crying, "Luffy ni-chan is strong; he's a champion, so he will not die easily."

"The patient is an MMA champion, three divisions", the nurse who did not leave with the security, whispered to Law and Sachi.
