Chapter 4
I was in my room when Azrael knocked on my door. "I'm sorry to ask this of you but can he share a room with you? He wont let me put him in another room. Says they're too far." Azrael had a dead look in his eyes. "It will just be until I convince him he needs his own room and so do you." I was already thinking about ideas to make everyone happy before he ended the last word of the sentence.
I smiled and spoke my mind "What if we make a door to my room from the one next to this one so it won't seem so far but we both still get our own rooms." There was a very small ghost of a smile on his lips but only for a second. If I blinked I would have missed it.
"Right well, can he sleep in here tonight? I can get the door tomorrow." I nodded with a big smile on my face thinking about how we could build a blanket fort and tell stories. I want to give a childhood he needs.
The footsteps came rushing from down the hall as soon as Azrael nodded out the doorway. Sol ran in and jumped on my bed and wrapped his arms around me the best he could as I was laying there. I scooped the little one up in my arms. "You ready for a sleepover?" I asked, trying to get him hyped up for the night. Sol looked at me with a puzzled look "What's a sleepover?" I was surprised but explained what it was and that made him so happy he started jumping on my bed.
Azrael came in with more blankets. I didn't even notice him walk away to go get them. "You can join us if you want. It will be fun. I might make some snacks." I tried to convince him but he just shook his head and walked away whispering something that I didn't catch. I turned back to the child in my lap. He was playing with the ends of my long black hair. He looked so happy you could finally see a spark in his eyes.
We stayed up late that night talking, singing, telling stories, dancing to imaginary music, eating snacks and so much more. To say it was fun would be an understatement. By the time I woke up it was already ten o'clock in the morning. Sol was still sleeping on the ground in the blanket-fort we made. So I slowly moved around him to get to the door. As I entered the hallway Azrael also left his room looking very tired. "Hey roomie, how did you sleep?"
He looked at me and spoke "I didn't." with that he walked away into the bathroom next to his room. I was a little concerned for him. The bags under his eyes looked as though they could carry enough food to feed all the kingdom. As I walked into the living room I saw papers all over the coffee table. They looked important so I didn't want to touch them and mess them up.
I walked into the kitchen and started making breakfast for the three people in the house. It was a simple breakfast consisting of sunny side up eggs with bacon and apple slices. I brought a plate into my room and put it on my bedside table for Sol to eat when he woke up. I walked back out and Azrael was eating his share of breakfast. He looked at peace. I grabbed my plate and sat next to him on the sofa making sure there's room in between us to not make him uncomfortable.
As I ate my food I notice Azrael kept looking down at my lap. I was about to say something but he quickly laid down so his head was resting on me. Within one minute he was asleep. I could tell he really needed the nap so I let him be.
Sol came into the room and saw Azrael laying on me and made a little pouty face. I realized he was a little jealous so I patted my other thigh, telling him he could come lay down as well. He swiftly came over and laid his head down matching the other male just on my opposite side. I smiled and put my head back against the back of the sofa playing with both of their hair. I soon let sleep take me into her warm and comforting arms once more.
