Midnight Down

-Prologue-

Diamond tears stream from emerald jewels, streaking down perfect alabaster skin.

"Sakura!"

A voice screams in the distance. Her neck throbs and she screams in agony. She places her hand on her neck, applying pressure to the wound.

Anything to stop the pain.

"You! What did you do to her?!"

The voice is familiar.

Sasuke?

"What have you done you meddling girl!"

A snake hisses in her ear. Her neck burns and she screams in absolute agony. She crumples on the wood of the log and screams once more as her torture is continued.

"What did you do?!!" Sasuke screams in anger.

"Well it seems she truly does love you. No one has dared interfere with my plans before. Well then. She'll have to deal with the consequences of her love." Orochimaru smiles sickly at the girl writhing in agony on the ground.

He melts to the ground and is gone.

Sasuke screams in frustration.

Until the most disturbing sound he has ever heard reaches him.

A scream that would send even the most uncaring man to ones aid.

A bloodcurdling scream of agony.

"Sakura!"

The raven haired Uchiha runs to her, kneeling before her tortured form. Sweat pours from her forehead, tears streamline down her cheeks.

On her neck is a curse mark. Three black shapes in the shapes of sixes mar her perfect skin.

He will kill the snake that dare touch his Sakura, and anyone who gets in his way.

"Naruto, wake up! Sakura's been bitten!" Sasuke screams to his unconscious teammate.

Naruto stirs, but does not awaken.

"NARUTO!" Sasuke yells, clutching Sakura's hand while she sobs and screams.

Naruto awakens to see Sakura on the ground screaming and Sasuke clutching her hands, his cheeks glistening.

Pulling out the kunai that lodged him to the tree, he jumped the tree branches and landed next to the two, kneeling beside them.

Catching sight of the girl he loved, tears fell from his eyes.

"Sasuke, what happened to her?" His voice was cracked, tears falling from his not so innocent blue eyes.

"That snake bit her." Sasuke choked out. He felt like he was losing the one person he cared about.

"You mean that guy I fought?!" Red chakra began to swirl around the boy, but dissipated quickly.

"I'LL KILL HIM!" Naruto screamed, standing to charge after the snake-man, only to be pushed back down by Sasuke.

"You idiot, we need to help Sakura first! Revenge can wait!" As if on cue, Sakura screamed in agony once more.

Picking up the wounded girl, Sasuke clutched her to his chest.

"We need to find a place to hide until she recovers somewhat." Sasuke then begins to jump the thick tree limbs, scouring for a place to stay hidden. Naruto trails behind him, keeping a lookout for any enemies after them. After about ten minutes, Sakura began show signs of fever. Every five minutes she would scream in pain, and small groans and grunts of agony escaped her lips every minute or two.
