RUHI OBEROI, Melbourne, Australia

The University of Melbourne~ (a short vdo given here ☝️)

As soon as I set foot in the university, the familiar daily drama unfolded before me. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the spectacle. Just as I navigated past the chaos, I felt a shove from behind. Turning around, I was unsurprised to see my nemesis, Lexi. Surely she has more productive things to do?

Choosing to ignore her, I made my way to the haven of the library. There, I sought out my best friend, Lily, affectionately known as 'the Library Ghost' by the rest of the university. She has an unparalleled dedication to her studies that leaves everyone in awe.

Her ability to focus astounds me-I can barely keep my eyes open when I hit the books. That's precisely why I needed her help with my assignment-I had completely spaced out during the lecture. Honestly, I couldn't even tell you what the topic is supposed to be.

Upon entering the library, I immediately spotted Lily engaged in conversation with the librarian. I breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, I wouldn't have to embark on a wild goose chase to find her.

"Alright, it's time to tackle this assignment. I'm not about to have a lecture from my mom when the professor gives her a call," I said with conviction. She merely laughed in response.

" Aunt isn't a tyrant, you know. It's just that you need to focus more on your studies!" She retorted.

After a rigorous search through the books, we triumphantly completed the assignment. And would you believe it took us a mere three hours?

With a satisfying sigh of accomplishment, I rose, organized our materials, and was preparing to exit the library when Lily interjected.

"Hey! Hold up, aren't you coming to the lecture?"

I glanced at her with a hint of sarcasm and responded, "Really, Lily? You're up for more studying?"

"It's essential, darling! I wouldn't have asked if it wasn't. Let's get moving!" She retorted.

Before I knew it, I found myself standing at the entrance of the class, my lecture starting in just 5 minutes! No respite for the weary, it seems.

Lily gave me a triumphant look after weathering the storm of my complaints, prompting a sheepish grin from me.

I confidently strode into the classroom and settled into my usual corner, away from prying eyes. It's a strategic spot, teachers tend to focus more on the students in their direct line of sight.

The lecture finally concluded, causing a wave of relief to wash over me as a smile spread across my face. The professor's prolonged, seemingly never-ending talk had been a real test of my mental endurance, threatening to lull me into a deep sleep despite the importance of the subject matter.

Once the class was dismissed, my friend Lily and I exited the hustle and bustle of the lecture hall, beginning our journey back home through the vibrant, bustling university campus. We chatted and laughed, enjoying each other's company until we went our separate ways. After bidding her a warm farewell, I sauntered towards my car, anticipating the quiet solitude of the drive home.

To my surprise, as I settled into the vehicle's familiar, comfortable seats, I found my elder brother waiting for me. He was wearing an enigmatic grin, a look that hinted at some hidden knowledge. The silent air between us was thick with curiosity and surprise, but he remained wordless, starting the car instead.

Suddenly, he broke the silence that had settled in the car. “Sis... your 'Ansh' has returned~” His words hung in the air, their significance not immediately sinking in. It was as if time had stopped. I whipped my head towards him, my eyes wide in sheer disbelief and shock. It had been 9 LONG YEARS since Ansh had left our hometown, leaving behind friends, family, and a life. And now, finally, he was back. It was almost too much to believe!

Turning to my brother, my voice came out in a whisper, tinged with desperation and hope, “can you take me to him???” His response was an immediate refusal, a blow that brought a wave of dismay crashing over me.

I pleaded with him, my thoughts consumed by a single, overwhelming desire. Take me to Ansh. I yearned to see him, to fill the hollow space in my heart that had been his absence for all these years. The emptiness had been a constant companion and now, with the knowledge of his return, I longed for it to be filled.
