Y/N POV:

As I walk towards the forest, I suddenly notice the freezing cold weather I'm rushing out into without any layers. It's mid November, why didn't I think about the weather? Oh, right. Little Miss Addams being a constant annoyance is completely distracting me from any form of rational thinking. At least the blast of cold air is helping to clear my head. I slow my walking pace as I reach the edge of the forest. The leaves on the trees ahead of me rustle as I approach, like they're greeting me, asking me to come in. I accept their invitation.

I walk through an opening in the wall of trees, leaving Nevermore behind, heading into the solitary nature fortress. I hear the gentle whispers coming from the overhead canopy of green, blocking out any remaining sunlight. I continue to walk deeper into the forest for a while, no set destination. Just blindly letting my feet lead the way as I continue to find myself lost in several conflicting trains of thought, all travelling to very different stations. After a while, I finally try to shut out the mental mayhem. When I come back into the real world, I find myself physically lost, in the middle of the forest. I just sit down where I'm stood and lean against a tall tree, simply letting myself enjoy the soft sounds that surround me. I let them flood my senses, feeling truly at peace for the first time in a long while.

I find complete comfort in the break from everything in my life. As much as I love my friends and Ingrid, sometimes the only way for me to stay somewhat sane is to escape them and reality for a while. I begin to feel myself slip into tiredness, a feeling I usually fight, but this time I relent, letting it take over. I momentarily consider texting Enid to let her know I was staying in the forest for the night, and wouldn't be returning to the dorm, but in my too tired to function state, I foolishly decide against it.

I suddenly wake up when I hear a unnatural rustle of leaves and twigs being brutally broken under someone, or something's, feet. The sound is loud, aggressive, and advancing towards me at a terrifyingly fast pace, like something's tearing through the forest. My reaction speed is severely slower than usual due to me having just woken up, but my fight or flight kicks in just in time for me to throw myself around to the other side of the tree, as the source of the sound comes crashing into view.

It's an unnaturally tall creature, with a hunched back. It's head is swelled up like a balloon that's about to burst. It's eyes have small silver irises that pop out of it's head, on the verge of coming out of their sockets. It's skin is a deep, swampy green, appearing grey due to the shade from the trees, that clings to its thin bones. The mouth is wide, with sharp uneven teeth, spit spraying in every direction as it screeches when it bursts into the clearing. It's not like anything I've ever seen or heard of before, and luckily it doesn't seem to see me. It stands shakily as it skittishly surveys the area, looking for anything else it can tear into. From the blood stains on it's claws, I presume it's main target is flesh, something I'm unfortunately covered in. I shoot my head back behind the tree as it looks in my direction. The sudden movement causing the leaves I was crouching on to crunch. My heart drops. I can hear the blood rushing through my ears, and I freeze like a deer in headlights. My eyes widen as I hear it move towards the tree. It suddenly stops. Everything falls silent. Then, before I can begin to process what's happening it rushes around the tree, and in my fear induced paralysis, my magic refuses to work. I forget how to move or breath properly. As it strikes, I feel everything slow down. It seems to attack me in slow motion, and I watch it claws sink into me. It then throws me against a nearby tree, causing blood to gush out of my head. As I fall and hit the ground, I'm consumed by pure searing pain and blood begins to rush out of the deep gash in my abdomen. It then pounces on me again. It slices through me, across from the top of my shoulder, down to my thigh. The sheer force of the attack moves me onto my side, causing more blood to pour out from my many wounds.

I  can feel myself slipping in and out of consciousness as my lungs begin to give out. My heart begins to fail from the lack of blood flow, since most of mine is now splattered on nearby trees. My body begins to ultimately shut down, and a feeling of bliss consumes me. I start to feel warm. The pain subsides, as I feel myself die, alone on the cold, forest floor. My blood covers every inch of the surrounding area. Before I take my last breath, I hear a chorus of footsteps heading towards me. If I wasn't in such a critical state, I would laugh at the feeble attempt to save my life. I've always had a dark sense of humour, but their gesture is much too little, much too late. I am a dead woman. I always knew I'd die in an eventful way, but being brutally murdered and torn apart by an unknown creature was not quite what I had in mind, but I guess it'll have to do. Since sadly I can't choose a new cause of death. I mean, my death will definitely be a hot topic all over the world, and it could contribute to discovering something new, so I'll be in at least one history book. I could live, or well, die, with that.
