ANWAR

Abuja, Nigeria

The sun poured through the windows, casting a warm glow in the living room. I found myself in the cozy comfortable position on the sofa, with a chess board in front of me and samir sitting on the other side. Together we played but my mind wasn't there. My thoughts were focused on something far more intriguing or rather someone more intriguing.

It is the girl I met in Haulat's school. I take it as a responsibility and also find an excuse to go pick Haulat just to see her. Some days when I am lucky I see her while some other days I don't. I have met her like four times now and I can't stop thinking about her and I know nothing about her, not even her fucking name!

I know what you are thinking and No I don't like her, I am not attracted to her in anyway and I don't believe in love at first sight but it just the way she talks, the way she acts and Lord gracious she is beautiful as hell. Wallahi I have never in my life met a girl who spoke to me like she does. She doesn't even know who I am, like who in Nigeria have never heard of Anwar Ahmad Jada and even if she does know about me she doesn't care. God my head is messed up.

"Whoa hoo! I gotcha" Samir's celebration draws me out of my head. I don't even know the move he made or what is making him celebrate do I just make any move with out even assessing the game.

"Bro where are you lost at?" Samir asked before pointing out "you could have just made a move here and win" oh I didn't even see that.

"It like you aren't even making any efforts in this game. This is the third time I am winning against you and you don't even seem to notice or care" he complained.

"I'm sorry, I  promise to concentrate now" I apologise for my lack of concentration.

He nodded and just as we were about to continue, mama walked in "Samir, can you ask the driver to go pick up Haulat from school?" She asked while Samir stood up ready to go and I quickly stopped him.

"Wait!" I cleared my throat and continued "Mama I will go pick her up today. I could use some fresh a right now and it's a good opportunity to some time with her."

Mama raised an eyebrow "why is it hat this days you always want to go pick her up"

I smiled trying to sound convincing "I just thought it will be a nice change. I have been working so much lately, it's time I spend more quality time with the family"

"Honestly you are acting strange this days, is there something you aren't telling is" Samir joined in.

Mama nodded, supporting Samir with the action "Yes I agree with Samir, I don't understand you this days"

"There's nothing really, I just want to be a good elder brother you know" I smiled awkwardly.

"Okay whatever you say. You can go pick her and please come back soon" mama agreed and I breathed a silent sigh of relief.

I pick my keys and head out. My heart pounded with excitement as I drove out of the compound. Driving through the busy streets of Abuja, I make it to Nile University.

I pack the car in the parking spot and wear a face mask before alighting the car. Now where to find her? I headed to the medicine college area cause I usually see her around that side.

I look around among the many individuals there and I can't find her. I walk further to the college still searching and I finally see a girl with glasses, she is definitely the one cause she is the only girl I know of or probably the only existing young lady who uses spectacles.
