The cold windy breeze filled the Time Square air. It was about mid- late November meaning the early Christmas lights on.

Lyrik was on her way to work, just to work a night-shift, honestly anything that could take up her time was good enough for her. One thing she hated growing up, was having nothing to do.

She was very indecisive in situations, no wonder she thought she was single. Lyrik never really had time for relationships. Yeah guys used to throw themselves at her but she always kept her head in her books. She was still a little iffy about being a virgin at the age of 22 but she doesn't stress it, she was low-key actually proud of herself and that she didn't end up pregnant on the street or with a deadbeat baby daddy or worse actually.

Strolling down on the road on the way to Bellevue hospital center, Lyrik turned on the radio due to the car being very dry. But didn't last long when she seen she was receiving a call from Jackie.

Jackie and Lyrik have always been close, best of friends, ride or dies, her slime. Jackie is the type of friend who doesn't take no shit, like at all. She always tries to get Lyrik out there to experience her early 20's, Jackie always thought " You only live once". Jackie's a long time stripper, but Lyrik doesn't judge her honestly she could care less about her occupation.

Like what was said Jackie was the outsider, Lyrik was the insider. Two different personality people always thought, whoever could see from a strangers point of view.

" So I was just calling, and asking how you are since you can't call nobody back." She spoke through the mp3 player.

Lyrik rolled her eyes at how dramatic Jackie was. " I didn't mean to, I've been really busy with work." Only half of that was true but not really a lie.

" Well, I wanted to ask if we can go out tomorrow night. Don't say no because I know you don't got work tomorrow Lyrik!" Jackie said significantly.

Lyrik laughed while keeping her eyes on the road, traffic in NYC was no joke she thought. " I mean, yeah I'll go".

Jackie excitement traveled through the phone. " OK YES FINALL-".

"BUT, if your brother is their JACKIE I'm leaving I'm dead serious". Lyrik said cutting off Jackie in a genuine firm tone.

Jackie had a brother, who was definitely bad trouble. Lyrik has had a crush on Jackie's brother since 7th grade, she was 12 at the time. He was 15. He was definitely her first everything except that she still was a virgin.

They haven't talked since he moved to LA, he came back to New York 2 years ago. Haven't talked since, honestly lyrik didn't want to. She's heard all the rumors about him and his reputation. 

" Girl, my brother is everywhere. You'll be fine just ignore him" Jackie said impatiently, Jackie never knew the history behind her brother and best friend but wasn't going to take a no for answer. She wanted a YES. " Ok....OK I'll go, but um I gotta go I just pulled up to the center " Lyrik said .

Hanging up the conversation, lyrik walked into the center. Waving at and getting waved at every worker in the hospital. She worked in the NP Field.

Lyrik began getting to work at the desk, asking if she had any patients but none. She decided to go check on her favorite patient ms.Rose, she was an elderly who loved Lyrik. Rose suffers from cardiovascular disease, she had her surgery a couple months ago.

Walking into the room that was occupied with the elderly lady, Lyrik was awoken with a soft raspy voice. " Lyrik is that you baby?" Rose asked while in the hospital bed still facing the tv. " Yes rose it's me, what you up to ms.lady?" Lyrik smiled playfully towards rose. Lyrik always held a soft spot for ms.Rose, she was like a grandma you would want in your fairytale world.

Lyrik began making her way towards ms.Rose's IV needles and monitor. Ms.Rose couldn't find a reason to stop looking at lyrik. A couple seconds later Rose asks lyrik " You still single girl?" She asked curiously.

Lyrik nodded her head, while going through paperwork since she didn't want to go out yet. " Im not really looking forward to relationships right now Rose, you know that." Lyrik says rolling her eyes playfully while chuckling at Roses incite. Rose has been trying to get Lyrik to get with her grandson Dominic since she started working at this hospital. Lyrik would be lying if she said he wasn't fine, tall and just good looking. BUT she was not looking for anything right now.
"Well Ms.Rose, imma check in on you later okay. Be safe." Before leaving she gave Rose a kiss on the cheek then leaving the hospital room. Outside the door she let out a breath she didn't know she was actually holding. She wanted to get out of there fast before she started talking about her grandson.

Lyrik was falling asleep at the front desk, she had about 20 minutes left until it was time to go.

Feeling a warm hand on her shoulder, which caused her to jump up and scream.
It was Michael her boss, at the center.
She rested her hand on her temple. " I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you lyrik." He said sincerely. Lyrik nodded her head. " I think imma clock out a little early I have a headache." She spoke. Micheal always found Lyrik fascinating, he loved everything about her. He nodded his head still staring at her. Lyrik excused herself to the back to clock out and then left, to say she was tired was the truth..............
