Warnings: Brief talk of suicidal thoughts and self harm

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Luz wandered through the vast expanse of void in her dream. She didn't know how long she had been walking, but it felt like days. To be completely honest, she was bored out of her mind, but nothing changed in the dream no matter how much she concentrated to change it. The fact that she knew this was a dream was more than a little concerning.

The floor felt cool and wet below her feet. It felt as if she were walking through a shallow lake, and yet her feet didn't feel wet when she took it off the ground. It was an odd sensation. She looked into the vast inky darkness around her, squinting to see something, anything. However, nothing changed, which didn't surprise her.

The teen sighed in frustration, kicking her foot through the not-water that was the ground. Why am I stuck in this stupid dream? All I'm doing is walking and walking and walking for no fucking reason. What's the point of this all?, she thought angrily.

She sat down on the ground and brought her hands to her head, gently pulling at her curls. Her eyes shut as she scrunched up her face, a different kind of inky darkness that she was familiar with. Just as she was ready to try to force herself into the waking world, a light flickered through her eyelids. Luz's eyes slowly opened, to find the familiar ball of light she produced with her glyphs. Her hands cupped around the precious light as tears began to well up in her eyes. The warmth of the light filled her soul, something she didn't know was possible.

"Ah, there you are little witchling", a voice rang out from behind her.

Luz nearly jumped out of her skin, turning around quickly to find a six-foot tall figure. They had black fur, paws and talons, and an oddly familiar skull head. A worm came out of their missing eye socket, while the other was a bright gold. They wore a pink "Bad Girl Coven" shirt, a burgundy robe, and pajama pants with glyphs all over them.

"I-", Luz lamely stuttered.

They smiled softly; or she assumed they smiled, it was kind of hard to tell, and gently put their paw on her head. They gently ruffled the teen's brown locks, "It's alright, I wont harm you."

"Who- are you?", she croaked out.

They sat next to her on the ground and summoned more balls of light, of which Luz could see the glyph for it dissolving into the ball of light as it was created. "I go by a rather complicated name, something you probably wouldn't understand or pronounce. I do go by Papa Titan though", their voice rumbled out.

Luz nodded, looking back to the light cupped in her hands before her eyes widened, "You're the Boiling Isles!".

Papa Titan chucked softly, "That I am. I have watched you for a long time witchling, you're one smart cookie". Luz smiled at the praise they gave her, but then her face fell just as quickly.

"Why were you looking for me? And is this an actual dream or is this real? Wait- am I-"

"Calm child, you're not dead. In fact it's not your time for a very very long time. As for your other questions- well, I was looking for you to make sure you were safe. What happened with those ruffians today, them attacking you I mean; it worried me as well as your mothers. And I am very real, not a figment of your imagination."

Luz flinched when Papa Titan mentioned her run in with Xavier, but was quickly comforted by their paw on her shoulder. "What do you mean its not my time for a long time?", she asked in a timid voice.

"I meant what I said. I have watched you for a long time child, I know the thoughts that run through your head on the daily. I know they try to dominate you, to force you to hurt yourself so they go away. And yet, they never do; even though they promise they will if you do what they're telling you to do. I have watched you struggle alone, but you don't need to. When you wake, I'm asking you to ask the people who love you for help. Isolating yourself does you no good, it doesn't help you heal", they spoke gently.

Tears fell down the human's face slowly and she sniffled. Papa Titan just let her cry, squeezing her shoulder for comfort. "Your father's guitar has given you some comfort hasn't it?", they asked after some time.

Luz nodded, "He always played it when I was little. Sang songs to me so I could fall asleep, or when I was sad he would play to comfort me. Dad always said music was how he could help himself and others channel their emotions, or calm down. He's right too, while I was at Hexside that's what the bard teachers explained the magic." She chuckled slightly, amazed by how close her father was about bard magic.

"Your father would be proud of you, you know? When its your time, which again  wont be for a long time, you'll see him again", they said matter of fact.

"How do you know that?", she asked tentatively.

Papa Titan winked, "Nothing you need to worry your little head about witchling. Now when you wake, say hello to Edalyn and King yes?"

"Wait wha-"

And then her eyes opened.
