"Hey, it's Elena. Elena Gilbert. I know you're just dragging yourself to finish these tapes and I'm sorry. Don't worry once you're done, you won't have to read this anymore. So let me tell you the story of someone who preferred popularity and when she got it, she ditched her friend in a heartbeat. Bonnie Bennett, this is one for you. Let's go back to junior year before we became cheerleaders, Bonnie. We were best friends, my mom was worried that I was no longer socializing because of how tight we were. To end the history that was well known to the students of Mystic Falls School High. It was the school's biggest gossip for at least a year because I briefly remember having to take anxiety pills. Well, there's your new piece of gossip Caroline. Go ahead, talk about Elena Gilbert's obsession with pills after her friendship goes to flames, well, I guess you're off to the next reason."

"Jeremy, Bonnie, what was Elena talking about?" Damon asked, as his curiosity got the best of him.

"I remember Elena in the summer of junior year, meeting this neighbor who just moved in a couple of blocks away, and dad hated it since he hated people learning about Elena and her mental health situation. But the whole seventh grade changed the way dad looked at Bonnie since they lasted for a year," Jeremy explained, chuckling, when he saw the others listening attentively, "It went on for another six months. Elena thought it was it. She had found a friend she could proudly boast to anyone. Then mid-terms came and cheerleading try-outs started. Bonnie didn't really like cheerleading as much back then, but Elena as the good friend she is encouraged her to join. Luckily, Bonnie was accepted to be a part of the squad. It wasn't until two weeks, into joining the team, did Bonnie change into a whole new person. She completely forgot about Elena. On her 15th birthday, Elena was all alone at the bowling alley with just me and dad because Bonnie completely forgot about it and never bothered to talk to her. After that, I remembered dad and mom proposing to move because Elena's anxiety reached a whole new level. But the strong Elena I knew, never let it affect her. Instead, dad put her on medications that kinda helped her for a while. Ironically, it also did kill her."

Stefan heard his heart shatter while hearing the story of his now, dead, girlfriend. He never knew about this side of Elena because she was the better one between them, or maybe he was selfish to think of it that way. Even after becoming her boyfriend, he never knew about anything that happened to her. He then opened the iPod to see that they had missed 5 minutes of content. He played it on the spot and it caused everyone's heads to whip towards the direction of the iPod.

"But hey, you still gave me one year and a half of good friendship which we filled with great memories."

Even through the recording, you could hear her voice break into vulnerability. It brought tears to the eyes of the Mikaelsons who realized how Elena was this beautiful person who deserved so much better.

"You proved to me prove to my mom and dad that I'm worth befriending. You know, I'd always been jealous of you. You had the beauty, the brains and you even had the talent. Everyone saw you for you, you're lucky you didn't have to hide behind a title everyone gave you since the title they gave you is made around your true identity unlike me. I was this perfect girl that everyone loved to hate on. To watch her crumble. As much as I sound childish to blame you for killing myself, I just couldn't accept the fact that I had lost my one true friend. I lost her and I could've avoided it. I could've stopped it from happening. But it's okay. I'm gone now. It's alright, I'm going to be alright..."

Then the file ended with silence and a brief sound of sobs who, they believed, was Elena.

"Witches, judgy, little things," Klaus exclaimed.

Whilst Bonnie, who rolled her eyes at the comment, felt that she deserved it, she deserved to receive their hate. Elena wasn't childish to blame her, she thought. She deserved to be a reason.
