For Nathan
Charlie's POV
"Shit," swears Hugo. "That hasn't happened before. Why didn't it work? Why didn’t she listen to me?""I don't know why it didn't work," I say truthfully. Hugo’s footsteps moved along the ground in a patterned fashion. "It should have worked. She shouldn’t have run away."
The door opens with such velocity that it crashes into the wall generating a loud bang. Quinn is there, trying to get air into his lungs. “Hugo, we have a problem." Loud growls start to fill the room.
“First of all,” grits Hugo. “Use me by my title at all times. Now that Tash isn’t here, you can all call me by my title.”
A chorus of ‘Yes Alpha’ fills around the room.
“Second, this better be important as I have other things to be dealing with currently,” Hugo finished angrily.
“I swear it is important,” Quinn replies.
“Then let's hear it,” I say. “If it isn’t important, then we will kill you.”
“It’s the Omega,” Quinn quickly says.
“What do you mean it is the Omega?” I have a question.
“Well,” he replies. “She is currently throwing a tantrum because she cannot get in here.”
“So,” growls Hugo, unimpressed.
“So,” mocks Quinn. “So. You have a job to do and you are not currently doing it. You have to put the pack needs first. You…”
“YOU DO NOT TELL ME WHAT I CAN AND CANNOT DO!” roars Hugo. “YOU ARE BENEATH ME IN THIS PACK!”
“How dare you,” replies Quinn in a disgusted tone. “I am only trying to do the right thing for this pack and you are treating your fellow pack member like an Omega.”
“You know what,” Hugo says, a sadistic smile coming across his face.
“I have a feeling that I am not going to like this,” Quinn mutters under his breath. “What?”
“If you want to defend the Omega’s so much, then how about you be one,” Hugo’s smile only got wider. Hugo looks Quinn in the eye with a death stare. “I only had you around because of Tash. She is the only reason why you are hanging around us. She had no idea what we were, now I am not so sure. But by any means with her not being here it means you are out.”
“Wha… what,” stutters Quinn.
“You. Are. Out,” replies Hugo, leaning forward with each word until he is right in his face. “Get it in your thick skull. You. Are. Out.”
“Fine,” says Quinn. “But you will regret it. I promise you that.” Spinning around on the balls of his feet, Quinn walks straight out the open door.
“Um, Alpha?” I ask timidly, not wanting that wrath on me.
“What Charlie,” Hugo snaps at me.
“Do you want me to get Alex to deal with the Omega?” I question trying my best not to piss off the already angry wolf.
Hugo lets out a loud sigh, his eyes shifting from his usual light brown to his wolf's very dark blue. Almost as dark as the depths of the ocean. “Yes. Get Alex to deal with her. I don’t want to deal with this anymore.”
I nod my head and get out of there. Turning around the corner, I crash right into someone's arms. An absolute mouth watering scent fills my senses for a minute. Arms reach out and hold us still for the moment. Thump. Thump. Thump.
