Chapter Twenty Five

Two Years Later

She ran through the field, the soft green grass beneath her small feet. Strong wind blows through her long black pig tails. A musky, fresh wood scent filled the air along with a subtle, bitter-sweet, and automatic note lightly dusted with citrus and rose. She ran her small fingers over the bright yellow flowers. A huge smile on her dimpled face. She didn't have a worry at two years old.

The sound of the town below her crept into her ear. She truns only for a while to see the busy streets. Then springs right back into running the field. Her eyes went to the house, and the workers that were rebuilding it. She remembered the sound ever since she was inside of her mother woumb. The banging, beating, and clinking. She was used to it all, even the casual yell from one of the men that was hard at work. It never frightened her. She knew her mommy and daddy would always be there.

Zinnia stood at the end of the field, watching as the two year old played. A smile on her lips was in wonder as she watched in amazement.

Zinnia had learned to control her senses and her apatite. On her eighteen birthday, her wolf came to her. She learned a whole new meaning of self-control then. It wasn't easy, though. Some said she made it look easy for her it was the hardest thing she ever experienced.

Tytus, though he wasn't happy to start it grew on him. But Zinnia thought the main reason it grew on him was because Audrey grew on him. They got close during the time, and he and Audrey even had a son together. Maximum was born a year before her little girl was born.

Teagan ended up with Ziggy even though she, too, was a little nervous about the whole thing at first. Gunner says they were just all copying him because his mate was human.

Zinnia smiles as she sees her daughter now running through the field. "Breanna, let's go in," she calls for her.

"What are you doing on your feet?" Gunner scolded her

"Watching Breanna play," she says as if that was good enough reason

"You know what the doctor said," he tells her, grabbing for her arm "Breanna come on, we need to get mommy in," he tells his little girl

Her black pig tails flop up and down as she runs toward them. Gunner takes her small hand in his as they start for the door.

"Baby," Breanna says, pointing at her mommy's tummy

"Yup," Gunner says. "More than one baby," he tells her, "Maybe five."

"Lord, I hope not. Taking care of three is going to be a chore," Zinnia says, sitting down on the couch as they enter the living room.

He smiles at her. "Tytus and Audrey are on their way over. He's going to help me put together the you know what for you know you"

She smiles. "I can't wait," Zinnia says

Breanna plays with her dolls as her mommy and daddy talk. Her little mind in its own little world. Always a happy girl.

"You're beautiful," Gunner tells Zinnia. "You know that?"

"Says you," Zinnia says with a smile

He pulls her up so that they are eye level. "These babies can't get here soon enough." He tells her."I plan to have the next one in not long after, " he tells her

Her smile widens. "I'll pretend I didn't hear any of that," Tytus says as him and Audrey join them in the living room.

"Tytus," Zinnia says, stepping around Gunner she hugs her older brother.

"Look at you," Audrey says. "You're glowing."

"Were my favorite little niece," Tytus says

"Uncle Ty ty," Breanna says , unning into his arms he lifts her up.

Maximum peeps around at them from his mother's skirt . Are you playing shy , Max? Zinnia asked him "Bre why don't you take Max and play?"

"Come on , Max," Breanna says , pulling on the small boys arm

He smiles as they run off toward the toys. "Tytus and i are going head up," Gunner says

"Alright, keep you're angry under control," Zinnia tells him

"I got this," Gunner tells her

"Don't worry, I won't let him stress too much," Tytus tells her

"OH hey babies," Audrey says, touching Zinnia's stomach as they are left alone.

"They are so active," Zinnia tells her

Audrey smiles. "So, Ziggy says him and Tea are coming over later,"

"I'll have Gunner put on some ribs," Zinnia says

"I heard that," Gunner says from upstairs

"You're supposed to be busy," she tells him

Later that night, Ziggy and Teagan came out, and all of them got to sit back and relax. Gunner fixed ribs and potatoes a long with some other sides, and they had a small bar bq just the six of them and the children.

It was nice not having to worry for once. Gunner pulls Zinnia into his side as they sit with their family. The sun was sitting over Wolfriver Cove.

The reds and blues mixed together in the sky, along with a bright yellow. The children were already sleeping. The moon, the brightest star, hung low. Sit up like a giant glowing ball lightning up the night. You could just see the moon goddess it was so bright. She smiled down on them.

Somewhere up there, the fates were watching. They saw everything was good and saw everyone was happy. For now, at least, they will let peace settle over the land.

Off in a distance, they could hear the sounds of the town as it settled into the night. The whippoorwill be calling not far from them and a hoot owl hoo on a nearby beach. As the night woke up and day went off to sleep.

"It's so perfect here," Zinnia says

"It is perfect because you are here," Gunner tells her

"You're so cheesy," Ziggy tells him

"I like cheesy," Teagan says

They all laugh. "So when are you two going have a baby?" Tytus asked Ziggy

"Never," Teagan says "Yall have plenty for us."

"You'll change your mind," Audrey says, snuggling close to Tytus

Zinnia snuggles closer to Gunner. His arms wrap around her as they star gaze. Watching the twinkling of the small lights in the sky. His fingers slowly crossed her bare thigh. Sending shivers through her body.

She smiles and allows herself to relax into his embrace. Feeling Rune and her wolf, Piyip calmed and relaxed.
